Is anyone having the same hell as me? For 30 years I've had this ocd hell! But for the last 3 years have been the worst! I have a fear I've being pricked by a needle and catching HIV! I've been for about 60 tests the last 3 years all over the place! I've phoned up HIV helplines weekly! It's been hell! Every time I see a little mark on my body I automatically think ite from a needle and convince myself I've got it! I've even gone to the chemist and got needles and pricked myself next to the mark I found on my body to see if it looks feels or bleeds line the mark I found! It's so bad it's took over my life to point I'd rather end it!

Hi Baz123, welcome to the forum.  That sounds horrible.  I've never had that particular one myself, but I've known several people on here who've described struggling with just the same OCD thoughts as you have, and going for tests all over the place even though none of them ever show anything, so you're not alone.

Sorry nobody's replied sooner; you're in the wrong section of the forum, so I think that may be why.  This section's for questions about the forum and website itself and doesn't get looked at very much because there aren't many postings - you'd do better to copy it and re-post it in the "Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder" section.

Have you been to the doctor to discuss whether you have OCD?  (As opposed to going to them for HIV tests!)  If not, please do.  There's often a lot that can be done to help get over a case like this.  (There's more information about the most useful treatments for OCD on the OCDAction website, look under the green tab.)

OCD is rotten, I hope you start to feel better soon.

Best wishes,

Hello. i had hiv fear as well. I think it is a part of "contamination" ocd. I was afraid of anything related to blood. If i touched something that had any spots i automatically thought it was someones blood. I researced about hiv and it is actually hard to catch from needle cuts or something because it dies in seconds on open air. Make yourself believe that it is really hard to catch this way.

Hello. I was also obsessed with HIV at some point of my life. Luckily I got over it with therapy. And it is now in the past.I know what its like believe me. Every time I would watch a movie or the news when they mention HIV.. my hair would stand. It was so scary for me. But to be honest notthe disease itself scares me so much.. because nowadays there is medicationthat can help u live a normal and healthy life. It is more about how you would be accepted in a society as an HIV positive personbecause usually people connect HIV with homosexuality (I am not a homophobe), drug abuse, promiscuity and so on....That was morescary to me. Remember that catching HIV is not so easy.. if it were.. half of the population would be infected already...
