On 25th November, we headed up to Liverpool to host our Annual Stakeholder Day. This free event brought together volunteers, members, donors, fundraisers and other people interested in OCD Action's work. It was a really successful event, and it was great to see so many enthusiastic people there supporting the Charity.
We had three breakout groups at the event, which gave us a chance to ask you for feedback on specific areas of our work and gather your ideas for future plans. The three groups focused on our Advocacy Service and how we can develop self-advocacy resources; our work with support groups; and our website, communications and media work and proposed membership scheme. We took away so many useful suggestions from these groups and will work hard to implement everyone's ideas in the year ahead.
As well as breakout groups, we invited two exciting speakers to the Stakeholder Day. First of all we heard a lively and engaging talk by John Davies, Consultant Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and Head of Service at Specialist Psychotherapy services in Sheffield. John spoke about how to effectively treat OCD and provided some really interesting information about research into therapy offered for OCD. We then heard Chartered Psychologist, author and friend of OCD Action's, Tim Marsh, whose interactive talk focused on tips for keeping well. I'm sure we can all say that we took away some really useful tips from him.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended this event, and a special thanks to Tim and John for their informative and engaging talks.
If you want to read more about the feedback from the Stakeholder Day, there will be a full summary in our next newsletter, which is available to all Members (including lots of other exciting benefits!). You can sign up to become a member and support our work here.
