We’ve had a really wonderful start to the summer for fundraising! Elyse Clare Brodigan flew the flag for OCD Action in the Great Ocean Road Half Marathon in Australia, raising over $400, while John-Paul (JP) Morris (in memory of his best friend Daniel Hulme, who had OCD) threw a Doctor Who party, ran the Manchester 10K and swam the Manchester Open Water Swim. JP will also be running the Chester Marathon later in the year and has raised in the region of £500 so far in offline sponsorship and more through his JustGiving page, which you can donate to here.
We've also had Hannah Keep's amazing 10K swim in the Great North Swim, raising approaching £1,000 (including Gift Aid), Rosemont Recruitment's first fundraising event for OCD Action (the 5k Rainbow Run in Bristol) in our capacity as their chosen Charity of the Year (Hooray!) raising over £200 so far (including Gift Aid), plus Rachel Vickers' terrifying cliff-camping exploits, through which she raised over £500 (including Gift Aid). Meanwhile, Tom Clancy continues his gruelling walk from John o’ Groats to Land’s End, raising over £1,300 so far, and no doubt on his way to raising even more funds (and awareness) as his long walk progresses. You can help show your support for Tom's wonderful efforts by donating to his fundraising page, here.
And the great fundraising summer of 2016 is by no means over yet! Here's what's coming up next ...
First of all, this Sunday, 10 July, Alice Roberts will be running in the Vitality British 10k London Run for OCD Action, while a couple of hundred miles away, Katie Maggs will be running the same distance in the ASDA Foundation Leeds 10K. Alice and Katie are both well under way with their fundraising endeavours, having raised in the region of £100 apiece to date (including Gift Aid), and you can help them raise even more by donating to Alice's fundraising page here and to Katie's here.
Then, in August, some other realy exciting events are coming up!
First will be Rich Taylor in the Tough Mudder Half Yorkshire on 6 August (which really is tough!), quickly followed on 7 August by Rachel Bailey (with all the gang from the Seek Solace OCD and Hoarding Support Group) and Lewis Sullivan running The Asda Foundation York 10K. You can donate to Rich's fundraising page here (and view his terrific videos on OCD here) donate to Rachel's fundraising page here, and Lewis's here!
And around about the same time, another big fundraising event for OCD Action will just be getting under way - Chase Smith's and Kate Ellison's circumnavigation of Iceland ... by bicycle! That's 1,332 kilometres, by the way, and you can donate to Chase's and Kate's JustGiving page here to help them reach their appropriately chosen £1,332 target.
By the time Chase and Kate have completed their incredible journey, the summer will almost be over, sadly. But it will have been a pretty amazing one, won't it? And then just wait and see what's coming up on the fundraising front in September and October.
Meanwhile, huge thanks once again to all our amazing fundraisers - past, present and future. OCD Action couldn't do what we do without the money you raise, so we massively appreciate all your fundraising efforts.
