OCD Research Participants Required

Greetings. My name is Dana Fennell and I am a PhD student at the University of Florida, Dept of Sociology.

I want to do a study that explores how Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
(OCD) affects people's everyday lives, and what health strategies people turn to.

I want this study to get at the heart of what it means to deal with this disorder on a day to day level, and how people get better. Is it from drugs, family support, alternative medicine, etc? Participants must be age 18+.

Identities will be kept confidential to the extent provided by law. I would like people to answer some questions by e-mail and keep a diary for two weeks.

As a poor graduate student, I can not offer any financial compensation for participating. However, research in narratives suggests that putting your life into story can be a health strategy in itself.

Endemol are making a new show for the Discovery Health channel called Life Guru and are looking for participants. The show follows hypnotherapist and Life Coach Alistair Horscroft as he empowers individuals to change their life forever. They are particularly looking for participants with a phobia or OCD.

Do you live in the Sussex area?

I am an MSc Psychology student at Sussex University. I am interested in cognitive functioning in obsessive compulsive disorder and require subjects to take part in a 40 minute attention experiment. It will involve wearing a headset and looking at items on a computer screen.

Travel expenses cannot be refunded.
