This weekend was the Chester Marathon, a 26 mile run through a beautiful historic city. But for John-Paul "JP" Morris, one of our fundraisers, it was much more than that: it was the culmination of a year of incredible fundraising activities the honour the memory of a great man: Daniel Hulme.
Today is the one year anniversary of Dan’s passing. Dan (pictured below) lived with OCD, and JP looked up to him like a brother.
Thursday is the day that we will remember the one of the great blokes who ever lived on this planet, one year on. Am extremely proud to called him my brother, my best mate, my master and my hero.
So over the last year JP has been tirelessly working to raise donations for OCD Action to help people like Dan, and to raise awareness of this often ignored condition. You can read about his previous incredible efforts here.
The Chester Marathon was the final event he has been building up to, and we’re pleased to report that it was a complete success! He not only finished it, but managed to beat his previous record by finishing in 5 hours 27 minutes! JP said that it was tough and hurt at certain points but he managed to get through, partly due to the support of his sister sending him motivational texts.
JP also visited the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff to celebrate Dan's love of the show:
JP has been going above and beyond this year, and so we should all give him a huge round of applause. At last count he'd managed to raise a staggering £632.41, though he assures us there's more to come! If you’d like to show your support, donate to his JustGiving page.
Thank you JP. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for us.
Our thoughts are with Dan’s family and friends at this difficult time. We’re sure everything that the things he’s inspired JP to do are a testament to how great a man he was.
