It is probably fair to say that 10 years ago few people had heard about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It was not a term in common use, there were no “celebrity sufferers” and the media was largely uninterested.

Today the term “OCD” is in much wider use. There is certainly more media coverage and a general sense of what it is. But with the wider usage of “OCD” has come a huge amount of misunderstanding. Not enough people understand the severity of the disorder. Too many people think that it is just a set of quirks.

We must get to a point where not only do more people know the term “OCD” but they also understand the real and devastating impact it has on people’s’ lives. To do this we need more people affected by OCD to share their story with the media. We need them to be able to tell their story of how OCD has impacted on their lives. We need to show the various types of OCD and we need to show how it can be overcome.

If you are interested in sharing your story with the media and working with OCD Action to dispel OCD myths then please fill in the form below and we will be in touch.
