Common experiences of psychological disorders

Participants needed for help with the development of a new transprocesses questionnaire

General Information

The aim of the study is to try and identify common experiences reported by individuals across different psychological disorders.  By pulling together common experiences amongst individuals with different diagnoses, we hope to gain a better understanding of what changes need to be made in our current thinking of different psychological disorders and consequently what changes need to be made to future practice e.g. type of therapies offered, the focus of therapy, etc.  The development of this questionnaire is currently in its infancy but with your help we can develop it to be of use in everyday clinical practice.

If you decide to take part, you will be asked to complete a brief set of questionnaires, to which there are no right or wrong answers.  The questionnaires will ask you about your mood, attitudes and day-to-day experiences.  The only requirements are that you are aged between 18-65 and English is your first language.

The study is part of a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London.  The study is being supervised by David Veale at the Institute of Psychiatry and Warren Mansell at the University of Manchester.

Ethical Issues

You are under no obligation to take part in the study.  If you do decide to take part, you may withdraw at any point without providing a reason for doing so.  If you withdraw, all of the information provided to us by you, will be destroyed.  If you do decide to withdraw, this will not affect the standard of care you continue to receive by your current service.

How to take part

If you wish to take part, please e-mail me at the below address.  You can complete the questionnaires online.  If you do not have internet access and would like to take part, please contact us and we can send you a paper copy of the questionnaires together with a stamped addressed envelope.
