  1. I have often heard that during the winter months, when there is less sun, people tend to get depressed, and I do notice an increase in my OCD symptoms during the winter months, where as in the summer or warmer months, I have way less OCD symptoms. I have read about SAD,(Seasonal affective disorder) which occurs during the the winter months, sunshine also stimulates the production of serotonin. Does anyone else have worsening of OCD symptoms during the winter months?

  2. Hi Rena, I am definately worse in the winter, OCD and depression. I can't wait until the Spring. I think people tend to shut themselves away more in the winter so that doesn't help.

    Hope you feel better soon

  3. Hi Rena and Bridget,

I'm worse in the winter as I wear more clothes and so create more washing and it takes for ever to do the laundry at the best of times

Seriously aside from that you tend to be more isolated in the winter and that's not good for us OCDers. Still never fear the days are getting longer and spring will be here soon, then our moods will lift.

    Hi all three

Yes I definitely get down in the winter. But I am also adversely affected by
strong winds. They make me anxious and on edge.

My favourite time of year is Spring. There is a feeling of renewal and rebirth when the cherries are in blossom and all the sspring flowers appear. This makes me feel more energetic and able to do far more.
