  1. My therapist has suggested that I take 60mg fluoxetine as there is evidence to show that this has helped people who have BDD. I am currently taking 20mg and fear putting more into my brain will only make me more dependent on it and also that I lose the 'real me'. Any body have any ideas xx

  2. Hey

I havent taken any medication yet for my OCD or my other related conditions, i think it would be best to voice your concerns with your therapist, they'll probably provide better advice than anyone . How much of a problem do you feel your BDD is at the moment? If your finding it difficult to cope with it may give you the boost you need and help with the therapy. Though im no expert so again id advise talking to your therapist about it.

    Good Luck, Joe

  3. Hi Tasha -

I can relate to your worries. It is a pretty common fear that antidepressants could turn people into 'robots' (I had that myself). What I can recommend from personal experience: trebling your fluoxetine intake is indeed a pretty steep increase. You could suggest to your doctor a weekly increase by 5 mg (or even: bi-weekly). Take your time. Then you'll have reached 60 mg (if you get that far, that is) in 8 or 16 weeks. So that it will be a very mild way up, and this will allow for frequent checking on how you feel.

    Best, Cuthbert.
