  1. Hi,

This week i visited a group based therapy program called "complex needs". This is what i have been suggested to visit for my treatment. However it seems that it is not specifically for OCD and has all different types of people with "mental health problems". It seems to me that this "complex needs" is the doctors answer to all with mental health, from depression, anxiety, bi polar etc. I have read books which say OCD treatment is not the Freud approach of "tell me about you childhood" etc etc but more ERP and CBT (well from most of the ocd books i have read). Im worried that this "complex needs" might not be the right treatment for me or OCD. Has anyone heard of "complex needs"? Do you think the program is right for OCD. The therapist there said i have been to long labeling my problem as OCD so i am even more confused now.

  2. As far as I can gather it's where we end up when they don't know what to do with us

You're right the treatment of choice for OCD is CBT which includes ERP. There are some people with OCD that benefit from talking about the past in relationship to their OCD but I still think it needs to be with someone that specialises in OCD and CBT.

You've been diagnosed with OCD so what else are you supposed to call it? I don't know some of the so called professionals do talk a load of rubbish don't they?

I suggest that you ask who ever referred you to explain their reasons for referring you, the purpose of the group and the anticipated outcome.

  4. Hi stu,

Nuisance not having the internet isn't it? It also generally happens when you need it the most

I suggest that you ask who ever referred you to explain their reasons for referring you, the purpose of the group and the anticipated outcome.

Without knowing the above it's not easy to proceed, but you are entitled to the information.
