  1. As part of some technical updates we will be making in the very near future we will be removing the OLD Forum. The changes will not affect the way the current forum works and members will see no difference except that some problems that occasionally occur will be fixed.

The OLD Forum will be archived and all posts and information on it will be kept.

In the meantime the OLD Forum can still be accessed by clicking on the link in the banner on the forum front page, however it will only be there for a short time, so if you want to access it do so as soon as possible.

  2. So everything on the old forum will be kept, but no-one will be able to see any of it?

  3. We need to take the old forum off the server because it is incompatible with the software the new forum and website uses and conversion takes up storage and computing capacity space (sorry - non technical terms but broadly a correct explaination) and this may be causing some problems for the new forum. We will be keeping the old forum in such a way that it can still be read and used, other than for posting, but have yet to determine details of how and the circumstances it will be accessed. In taking the decision to remove and archive the old forum we have to consider the costs involved in maintaining open internet access to it and if those funds could be spent better elsewhere in providing service to sufferers and carers. Ideally we would like to keep it readily accessible via the internet but I am sure members are aware of the current difficult financial environment the charity has to operate in.

We welcome members views on access to the old forum and any suggestions members may have on maitaining access and any specific uses, such as research, that it can be used for.

  4. Hi Nimrod
Don't know if this would be possible but could the old forum be converted into a file which members could download onto their own computers if they want to refer to it.
As time progresses I think it will become increasingly a historical resource to help show how changes in psychiatric practice have affected sufferers so I can envisage a possible future reference use in schools and universities.

  5. I'm not an IT expert, but I think it should be possible to have it on a website somewhere so that it is accessible to anyone on a "read only" basis and that is my aim. It has to come off the current forum/website for technical reasons. As soon as we have sorted something out I will post it here.
