Good morning all
I have some very good news to share today. We have reached, and passed, our magic figure of 200 surveys. So now we have a survey and, in turn, a book when it is finished, which will have real credibility. Lets hope it will change things for all of us (in terms of treatment and understanding) and give us a brighter tomorrow.
Of late, I have received one or two incredibly moving stories on the surveys from you which you have not felt able to share before; some are to do with treament and meds and others the loneliness caused by OCD.
The survey gives you an opportunity to tell your story with complete anonymity. None of us will ever know who you are unless you wish otherwise. So, if you want to have a voice in our book, please consider filling a survey in.
Very warm regards
Anne (the editor) and Joyce, Tricia, Richard, Andrea, Chris, Niki and friends
Hi again
I just want to thank Cliff Snelling for the help he gave me in completing the survey and the huge support he has given me throughout this research period. It has been well worth the effort Cliff - 200 completed surveys will give real credibility to our book as you rightly say!
A second point to make is that there are only two weeks before the deadline for personal stories. Particularly needed are a few more success stories and articles for the last chapter where we are looking at coping tools other than CBT etc, and relapse prevention. These tools can be anything truly anything- jewellery making, creative writing, cookery, playing instruments, sports and yoga as well as meditation, Reiki and massage.
I will remind you again next week.
Very best wishes
Anne

Writing! Writing helps! Like mah Liddy, she's very helpful!
^ Had to be done.
So dear Jess,
As you have your mum's permission to write for the book why don't you try and write a piece on why writing helps you with your OCD.
You can also write a small OCD- related story if you like. Your Haikus are amazing and they will be used all over the book.
Love
Anne
I'll try to if I can think of anything.
Hi
just to say we seem to be having a bit of a problem with my link to the survey. If you cannot access the survey or if you find that it deletes what you have written, please email me at OCDsurvey@btinternet.com or PM me and I will let you have an alternative link.
Anne
Hi Anne.
I have been meaning to write something for you, but never seem to find the right moment to do it. I still definately want to contribute to this book, and have jotted down the bullet points of things you said you wanted to know regarding my sons ocd.
Is there a deadline for submissions?
Regards
Jenny
Hi Jenny
The original time limit was the end of this month. However, I would be pleased to give you longer as your story will be invaluable and I know your time is short. As you definitely wish to contribute, 7th November will be fine or the end of November if you cannot manage. I will earmark a place in the book.
Thanks so much
Anne
Hi all
Sorry I have just been advised that the link to get in to the survey is no longer on the press and media page.
You can complete the survey by copying and pasting this onto your browser:
ps the link to get into the survey is:

Hi all
Caps has been trying to get the link put back on this page for a few days. But there seem to be technical probs.
I have just found the old post hiding on the Press and Media page under 'more news'. So if you click on 'more news' and then 'survey' you will be able to find the details, a manual copy of the survey and the link to get in there.
Just to remind you that there are only 11 days left to do the survey or let me have your contribution (unless otherwise agreed between you and me). We need to stick to this deadline as there will still be a huge amount of work for me and Joyce to do in the form of analysing this most extensive survey for use in all chapters and pie charts etc.
I would still love a couple more UK success stories. Success does not mean having 95% or even 80% control - it means succeeding despite your OCD as I am doing.
I would love more poetry. Jess's Haikus are remarkable - simple yet so beautiful as are the wonderful poems others have sent me. I have been astounded at the standard of both the survey entries and contributions. What it clearly shows is that OCDers have much to offer the world in terms of skills, intelligence and literary excellence.
I will remind you again later this week.
Very best wishes
Anne the editor
Hi all
This is my last posting befor I close down the survey in 8 days time as I need a few days break before the really hard work starts.
I would welcome more surveys - some of the new ones I have received have been especially helpful. Thank you so much.
The closing date for contributions is also 30th September unless a later date has been agreed.
Thanks to all of you who have helped with our magnificent project. It has been hard work but worth every moment of doubt and worry.
Love
Anne and friends.
Hi
I know! It's October 1st, and I should not still be posting. But I am awaiting nine more accounts which promise to be really helpful and a few manual surveys which I will be adding to the online version myself.
So the current position is that:
1. I am not accepting any new offers of contributions as we have more than enough to fill a large book.
2. The survey will remain open until the end of October.
I will make a final posting in November.
Thanks to all of you who have helped so far and/or have offered to help with proof reading, pie charts, editing and marketing. Are any of you good at designing covers?
Thanks so much again, it has been a pleasure meeting you and working with you. We OCDers have so much to offer the world in terms of technical skills, writing skills, creativity, analytical ability, nursing skills, etc etc etc.

Anne,
Can I just say that as someone who reads every post on this forum that it will be a very sad day if you leave us and no longer post. I know you have a huge amount of work to do in anaylising the survey and writing the book but you have been an inspiration to us all and an excellent source of advice and support. So please don't stop posting. Your snippets have been great and very reassuring, not to mention tempting when it comes to buying the book to find out the whole story of what lies behind them. You are part of the OCD community and I know that you will always be with us so please log in to the forum from time to time and let us know how the book is progressing.
Best wishes,
Caps
Hi
Thanks so much for this message Caps, it means a lot.
Just to say there has been a change of plan. The survey will be closed at the end of the week so we can get the book ready for publication by spring, if possible.
My sister (an experienced sub editor) has taken on the job of sub editor. A forum member has agreed to have a go at designing the cover.
So I just need the final contributions so we can forge ahead over the winter months.
Thanks again.
Anne
Hi all
Final, final posting for a few weeks.
Just to say October 31st is the final date for receipt of manual surveys and all contributions unless we have agreed otherwise.
Thanks once again for all your help and kindness
Please feel free to email me, I will no doubt be beavering away at my desk
Love
Anne
