  1. Hello Gladis

Thank you for your email response to a comment I added last night. I'm afraid I'm still trying to work out the finer details of how the forum works, and having not been on a forum before I'm unsure of the protocol, and how to use the emoticons (I seem to get text rather than the lovely images). People keep mentioning PM which I assume is a personal message, and I'm not sure if a PM is also an email? I like the facility to have a one to one conversation, so presumably this is done via PMs?

Anyway thank you for the information and advice on applying it.

    Ok Daisy

Now I have broken my silence for a funny five minutes I will explain how to use the PM system. Click on my picture and you will get to my profile and then send me a message.

I will also take this opportunity to openly ask you if you wish to (anonymously) contribute to the project as the majority of my contributors have contamination OCD.

    Very best wishes
    Anne
ps I am now back to PMing only. nb the Grayson book is truly excellent on what some of you would call pure 'O'. The advice is second to none and so easy to follow. Jonathon Grayson. 'Freedom from Obsessive Disorder.' Penguin. US. 2003 available from Amazon, hopefully. I think I took the last copy.

  3. PM means Private Message.

Click on "Send message" to the left of the post text and you will get a "message form" where you can type your message.

This message will only go to the member who made the posting, it cannot be seen be anyone else including the administrator (me). It is totally private and only the person it is addressed to can see it plus there is a copy for the sender to see. To see your messages go to "My profile" (Top of screen)and click on "messages". The system keeps a copy of all messages you have sent and recieved from other members and nobody can access them.

The technical stuff (simplyfied because I am not a teccy): when you send a PM is is kept on the system, it does not go outside of the system. An email is sent to the recipient telling them that there is a new PM. You can turn this notification off in which case you will have to go into your profile to see if you have any PMs. If you get a notification simply click on the link and it will take your to your PM - you will have to log in to read it. You can delete any message you no longer want but there is no limit to the amount of messages you can keep.

    Hope this helps,
    Caps

  4. Thanks Caps

After I dared experiment with a few things, it began to make sense, but your info about the confidentiality/system/administrator access is very reassuring. I bet quite a lot of folk joining the forum would rather start off with PMs to find their feet before creating a new post.
It will be good when the 'Help' or 'Q&A' section is added, but I'm finding it a well laid out forum and it has lots of useful facilities. Good job team.
