  1. Hi everyone, I have felt very alone today. I have been very depressed and feel my life is empty apart from OCD. The forum has been very quiet today, I have logged in so many times. I hope the reason for it being so quiet is that everyone is feeling fine.

    Hi Bridget

It has been eerily quiet hasn't it? I have spent another 7 hours solidly on the project so have had not had time to join in and now am off to the webinair.
I am so sorry you are lonely. Can you write me a personal account for the project - you can remain anonymous and I would be really grateful. The two pieces I have so far are truly wonderful. Also can you think of what questions you would like to be put on the questionnaire. Hopefully this will fill in some time. In the meantime please relax and give yourself a big hug to remind yourself of how lovely you are

    Hi Bridget
So sorry to hear you have felt lonely today. I've been off the Forum because I've been in Liskeard setting up for our big day tomorrow - oh, and it does look nice, hope we will get lots of people in.
Anyway, just sending a bucketload of love from Cornwall - that reminds me I must take a bucket tomorrow for donations to OCD Action - worth a try seeing we're giving out free tea and coffee.
    Take care dear friend, Joyce

    Hi Bridget

I'm so sorry you're feeling alone. There are times when I wish that I had someone I could snuggle up on the couch with, but alas, this isn't the case. So I jjust make do with my sleeping bag.

  10. Hi Bridget. Hope you're feeling less lonely today. It's a bummer isn't it and i think it affects a lot of us ocd'ers. I'm also feeling low with it all and finding it difficult not to cry. Are you on your own or lonely in a relationship?

We gotta keep up our hurculean efforts to get through every day and keep smiling through it all as difficult as it is.

Would a cyber hug from an internet friendly ocd'er help?

  11. Hi Poppyfields, At this present moment I am feeling so alone and am crying. I feel so afraid, it comes and goes all the time. I'm not sure what I am afraid of at the moment, i think it is of the way I am feeling and if i lose control of everything again.
I am married with two children so I am not technically alone, it just feels like it.
Thanks for the offer of the cyber hug, thats kind of you.

  12. Bridget,
I've never been able to tell which I hate more...the anxiety side or the depression side. Depression tends to go hand-in hand with OCD...motherhood adds to the stress and makes it difficult to get a handle. It helps me to schedule something I must do away from home. For instance a walk for an hour...or a hair appointment...or a trip to the store...although that one can be dangerous because I tend to spend money that way!
How old are your children? Hows your sleep at night? Also, are you trying any medications? Something like fluoxetine or sertraline, may work wonders for you to get you up out of the ditch. Meds scared me to death...especially when I was nursing my babies, but I now feel they are a miracle and praise the day they were made...I feel myself again to a degree I didnt think was possible!

  13. Hi Andrea,
At the moment i am being attacked by both depression and anxiety and also intrusive thoughts which frighten me. At the moment I don't seem able to even go out on a shopping trip as i feel so low, usually it would help but not at the moment.
My children are 14 and 21 so not dependant on me really although the youngest has a serious health condition which rears its ugly head on a regular basis.
I take Escitalopram for OCD and it is supposed to be good for anxiety and depression. I was taking Citalopram until a few days ago at a high dose but as it didn't appear to be helping i was changed over to Escitalopram. The depression is lifting slowly but I keep having these waves of panic and fear that are knocking me down.
I'm pleased your meds are working for you and I know how hard it is to look after young children with an illness to contend with on top.
I am trying to be positive and hope my meds start working soon.

    Take Care
    Bridget

p.s. what time is it in the USA at the moment.

  14. I believe I am 7 hours behind you....it is 10am right now. I am on 'mounain standard time'. You may know that there are 3 time zones in the US...I'm in the 'middle' one.
I tried escitalopram for a year and it did help, but nothing like the fluoxetine I'm taking now. I think the regular dose for OCD is around 30-40mg a day for escitalopram...most doctors freak out at the high dosage numbers for OCD, but that is correct. I have heard of a few having success with that drug, so I hope it works for you...here it is only available in brand name form and is therefore more expensive than the others. I hope it lifts soon for you...I hate those duldrums! try and keep your chin up..you are not alone!
