  1. Help!
    What am I doing wrong?
I can send private messages but only if that person initiated the contact.
When I tried to contact someone new it kept saying that there was an error try again.
Is it me or the system?

    Hi Truddles
Sorry, I can't help you but I would like to know how to send private messages, I thought everything had to go through the Forums. Also does one have to be a member of OCD Action to post to the Forums? Today we had our second social group meeting, only one person turned up, plus my husband and myself so we introduced him to the internet and the OCD Action Forums, he had never used a computer but he really enjoyed it and would like to post. He has OCD and gets very lonely. We have a meeting place with free use of computers so can set him up with an e-mail address. Can anyone advise please.

  3. Because this forum has within the last week changed to new and more complex software many of the facilities are not yet available although we are introducing them gradually to simplyfy the changeover process. I understand that very soon a full member list will be available to all users making it possible and easy to send a private message to any registered forum user.

You do not have to be a member of OCD Action to post or to use any of the forum facilities as this will always be free. More information about being a member of OCD Action, the work it does, how it is financed (including how this forum is financed) and how to join is available on the website.

  6. sysop,

When I send a private message why does a warning appear - it's something about not being able to modify header?
    Thanks

  7. Morning Truddles! - I'll have a look at this right away for you. I haven't seen this error myself, but I have a feeling its to do with not being logged in when you click on the link in an email.

Would it be possible to send me a mail at webmaster@ocdaction.org.uk with the error message? This will show me exactly where the error is occurring.

  8. Hi Sysop,
Thanks for responding to this internet dimwit. I am actually logged on before I click on the link to write the message as I can't otherwise go to my profile to write the message, but as is typical the message hasn't appeared the last couple of times. But when it next appears I will write it down and then email it to you. It disappears once you change page and the messages are always sent.
I have asked before but is it possible to create a symbol so that we can send an 'OCD hug' to people when they're low and need that little bit of extra TLC
Thanks for help and for creating such a helpful site.

  9. Hi Sysop,
That stupid message still keeps appearing intermittently when I send private messages, did you get the email that I sent to you as directed?
Also in My Profile - why when you reply to someone does the time and date that you replied now show on the inbox so that you no longer can at a glance see the time and date that that person last sent you a message I find it confusing.

  10. Hi Sysop,
I'm sending another message to say that that stupid message still keeps appearing intermittently when I send private messages, did you get the email that I sent to you as directed?
Also in My Profile - why when you reply to someone does the time and date that you replied now show on the inbox so that you no longer can at a glance see the time and date that that person last sent you a message. I find it confusing and don't want people to think that I'm being rude by not replying, but can't now tell when their last message was.
From your friendly computer dimwit ( though I am with the help of the forum improving)

  11. Hi Truddles - ahh, looks like the issue is still cropping up - I'll look in to this now for you. I just need to disable a few things in order to do so.

Regarding messaging - at the moment, it bases its time on the latest reply to a given message. So much like the forum, as soon as someone posts a reply to a message (be it a reply you just sent, or the last message in there) it will display that date. I'll see if I can make it so that it registers the last post date as well.

  12. Ok, hopefully the warning message should not appear any more. To all members... if there are still any problems with it then let me know and I'll be happy to look in to it for you.
