  1. Hi

These websites have been recommended to me by my Therapist & GP - so I thought I would share them with you:

    http://www.getselfhelp.co.uk - For CBT

http://www.moodgym.anu.edu.au/welcome - For CBT help with Depression

Some of you may already be aware of these sites, but I thought it would be good to post them here as they have been recommended to me and they do seem to be helpful.

    Good luck to all!

    O

Members should be aware that the above sites offer commercial, ie, for profit services, and should satisfy themselves that any services they offer are appropriate to members individual needs and of any contractual matters, including payment, for using them. The sites/organisations have no connection with OCD Action and are not endorsed by OCD Action.

  2. Hi

I hope this post has not offended anyone.

They were recommended by my NHS GP and Therapist to help with OCD and Depression.
There is nothing commercial intended from my point of view?

Apologies again but only meant to offer help to anyone.

  3. Hi OC/DC
You certainly haven't offended me, in fact I thought it was a very nice gesture to share the sites with other forum users. I did have a quick look at both sites but was not overly impressed, I couldn't find anything specific to OCD and felt, as a long term OCD sufferer myself, that some of the information was a bit patronising - however there is a lot of sensible information about how to deal with generalised stress related conditions. I think this illustrates how much work still needs to be done to bring about an understanding of OCD within the medical profession and the value of organisations such as OCD Action which can provide much more specialised help and advice.

  4. I don't think anyone could be offended by your post, I certainly wasn't. The information you gave is informative and relevant to people with OCD and therefore is appropriate for the forum. The reason I added a note is because we have a huge variety of people using the forum including many younger people who I feel it is right to advise that there may be charges or other obligations if using the services mentioned. I also wanted to point out, as we always do, that the organisations are not connected to or endorsed by OCD Action and that the information given is the view of the individual. OCD Action is an independant, unbiased organisation and such a statement is a standard "backside protector" which is something we have to do.

We welcome discussion about all aspects of OCD including information about commercial services and products that may be of interest to the OCD community. We don't allow advertising where the prime purpose is to sell goods or services but we do welcome our members giving information about and discussing relevant goods and services. Your comments fell clearly within the information/discussion criteria.

    Hope this explains it.

  5. Hi

    Thanks for the feedback.

I think the sites are more geared toward CBT for a range of problems?

    Take care
