  1. Hi,
Ive recnetly been put on risperiden along with two other meds and I just feel really tired all the time. I initially had insomnia Im not finding that to be the case so much but feel really groggy when I wake up and by 4pm just want to go to bed, but have to keep going.

  2. Hi Teresa,

I took Respiridone for a short while and I too felt like you. It takes a while for your body to get used to a new medication so give it a go won't you as I believe it will help you in the long run.

    Good luck

  3. Hi Teresa,

It's hardly surprising that you're feeling so tired. Don't forget it's a lot for the body to cope with taking Clonazepam, two SSRIs and now Risperidone as well.
Your Neurologist and Psychiatrist really need to liaise with each other so as not to overload you with medication and have you doped up to the nines as this won't help either condition.

    Best wishes
    Trudy

  4. Hi Teresa

I was only really doped up (on mirtazapine, chloripromine and diazepam) for the first few months and I think they did that deliberately to allow me some relief from the anxiety.

I hated it though and being unable to get up in the morning. Hopefully it will settle down for you, but if not, do go and speak to your doctors again. Sounds like youre on a lot of pills!!

  6. Hi Teresa,

It's hardly surprising that you're feeling so tired as the Clonazepam, Tegretol, Escitalopram and the Risperidone all have listed amongst their side effects drowsiness and can cause sleep disturbances and so make you feel groggy. When I was on Tegretol for my epilepsy (now on Gabapentin) I was started on Clonazepam as well but within 48 hours of taking a low dose I was out cold and so had to stop it. It reduced the seizures but that didn't help if I was virtually unconscious.

Speaking as someone who also has epilepsy and so experience of problems with interactions between medication for epilepsy and OCD, I'd say that your Psychiatrist really does need to liaise with your Neurologist as the medications that you're on all interact with each other. The Tegretol especially changes the way the other drugs are metabolised. When I was on Tegretol I had to increase the dose of some of my medication and lower the dose of others because of this.

Having to take so much medication because of multiple health problems really does make you rattle doesn't it? You can hear me coming a mile off because of all the meds that I have to take
