Hi Hon
Now I dont claim to be any kind of autority on this but I can give you some thoughts and advice on things Ive learned over the years from various experts! I think a major key to whether or not you will act on your thoughts is your awareness of them, and more than this, your awareness that they could cause harm. The people that experts worry about are those that cannot see that some of their negative intrusive thoughts are worrying. There are different types of people when it comes to mental health - neurotic people and psychotic people. Neurotic people think there is something wrong with themselves and often apologise for themseles frequently. Psychotic people think there is soemthing wrong with everyone else and they cannot recognise when they are having a woryying, potentially harnful thought. EVERYONE gets mad, weird, crazy and potentally harmful thoughts - they flit through everyones mind - but its obviously the ocd'ers that fixate on a thought and worry about why theyve had it etc etc. But the fact that they are AWARE of this thought means that they will not be impulsive anough to act on it - you are obviously aware of your thoughts as you recognise it and tell yourslef it will ot come to anything. Just becaue you do one thing does NOT mean you will do another, and certainly not one that wll cause harm. I sometimes think I see 'signs' that things are going to happen - but I am not schitzophrenic (sp!), there are many variations of things in mental health, and just because you have one does not mean you have another xxxx
