I often attribute that song to manic depression in later life, rather than a bunch of soldiers who made it halfway up a hill and were 'neither up or down'.

  3. its always interesting Giles what a song can make us remember.

  4. I just have one question.....what the heck is a 'budgie'???

    Sun Mar 7 2010 22:21:33 #
  5. Budgie: A small bird often kept as a pet, proper name = budgerigar.

budgeriar - Across the pond, you probably refer to them as parakeets, although parakeets and budgies have subtle differences. Parakeets have a tuft of hair going upwards from its head, whereas budgies don't

  7. Ah! Thanks Giles..and Caps...yes parakeets I know...so are they colorful green and/or blue as well?

    Sun Mar 7 2010 22:42:20 #
  8. Yes I've got plenty of colorful things up my sleeve, though I'll try and keep the infantile outbursts to a minimum...wouldnt want you British thinking we are all 'inteligent language challenged'...lol

Haha, I love the differences between UK and US slang!

We actually have wild parakeets round where I live, massive flocks of them! They've become an indigenious British species, I think, because there's so many of them in the country now.

Budgies are awesome, if you can get tame ones. Otherwise you have to give them their boundaries and let them decide when they want to go back in their cages. Most of the time, my ones hang about on the top of the bookshelf and squawk. Every now and again, they'll go mental and fly onto the curtains. Greeny (thats the green one) will occassionally fly onto my shoulder like a parrot and eggy (thats the white one) will run away from you like a pigeon.

  12. Lovely topic Helz,

One of my reasons to be cheerful is my 3 year old son who will be 4 next wednesday. He is an absolute joy and I love him to bits.

    Other reasons to be cheerful:
I'm on the waiting list for CBT
    I've got Friday off
Taking my mum to lunch on Sunday
Chelsea are in the next round of the FA Cup!

I really need a dance partner and am considering re-locating to get one, but i don't really want to though, because I'm settled here. They're either too good for me, too far away from me or are on a different syllabus.

Truddles, you do have a reason to be cheerful, I value you

I have done a huge load of washing successfully. The basket is empty and the sun is shining. And it is only 12.15pm.

  25. My reasons to be cheerful today are:

    - I am not so anxious today
    - I am able to think more clearly today
    - I have managed to fit into a size smaller trousers
    - My children are happy
    - I don't feel as depressed as yesterday

hmmmm, I would be if I hadn't sabotaged a few friendships - I never mean't to, though and I'll never be able to make it right again.
