    Feel good post alert.

Let's think of reasons to be happy, or to at least to try to be. Even if it's just a tiny thing that makes you feel good, then it's worth posting.

    Mine (in no particular order):

The days are getting longer- lighter mornings and lighter evenings!
I'm doing well at uni (for now anyway!)
I'm getting help for my OCD.
I'll be finished for the summer by the end of May.
I'm going on holiday in July/August.
The new series of my favourite TV program starts in less than 4 weeks.

I realise it's hard to feel happy sometimes, I know, but we need a bit of light relief on here! Sorry if I'm being insensitive...

Sometimes I wish I had a pet, but I don't think I could cope with it due to my contamination fears. Maybe though, I could convince my parents to let me have one as part of my treatment.

  8. I got that song in my head now. ' reasons to be cheerful, 1, 2 , 3. who sang that?

I knew I'd heard the phrase "Reasons to be cheerful" somewhere, but I couldn't think where, haha! It's an Ian Dury and the Blockheads song, apparently.

  10. awww cats are very healing indeed, you never know, it could help with your contamination. who knows!!! wouldn't that be great if you could Helz. I know it could be hard.

I couldn't have a cat because, truth be told, I'm terrified of them! I even have nightmares about them. I'd quite like a dog, but if it started dragging its bum across the floor I think I'd die!

It would be great if I could face it though, but my house has never had any pets, so I don't think we'll ever get one.

Another reason to be cheerful- I've just finished another essay, which means I only have 5 more left to do this term, yay... That's both good and bad, haha! I've got to do 4 of them by the end of this month so I better get cracking. Not now though, it's too late in the day.

  14. Hey, my cat drags his bum across the floor, oh boy, its a scream to see, but I do understand your concerns.!!!!! and he loves high places, you should see what he did to my curtains!! People must think I am poor, my front curtains have huge holes in them. useful for spying I guess, on the neighbours

My budgies are bloody annoying. They always cheep and squawk during a really good movie or when I'm trying to speak on the phone, or playing the guitar, but I love them though. Helz, how about getting something thats easy to look after, like a hamster. They're cute, have small poo, which could be good for exposure therapy and the ones I've known are quite sweet and very inquisitive. I would say stay away from budgies for now, if they're anything like my ones - They projectile poo everywhere

Oh, and I'm going caravanning in Newquay in May, hopefully doing some surfing.

I always wanted a hamster when I was younger, and I wouldn't mind one now, but it would be a bit difficult. Hah, I haven't pestered my parents for a pet since I was about 9! I could just buy one myself, but I'd have to consult them first. Knowing me it'd probably die the day I got it.

    Sun Mar 7 2010 21:38:39 #
  20. Giles that is so funny, little pooooo, what do you think Helz?

another good reason to be cheerful, is getting to know the funny side of you guys, its good to laugh, I am having a good laugh here!!! cheers guys!!

OCD wants us to be sad and negative, so even just by being positive we're fighting back.

    Sun Mar 7 2010 21:44:56 #
  25. its always good to find the balance , we do need to laugh from time to time

    Sun Mar 7 2010 21:46:46 #
  26. this is so true. I always notice , when I have a good laugh, I don't seem to do any checking at all. It must be because I am feeling good!!

I always try to make the most of times when I'm upbeat, because I never know when I'll be down again. It's the same for everyone, OCD or no OCD though, I think.

Indeed thats me in the photo. My hair was blowing back a bit in that photo, plus I'd been camping out in a cold field in Snowden the night before and didn't have a wash. That was March 2009, after my charity walk up Snowden with 2 of buddies from work.

Hey thanks for the topic Helz. You're a joy

  29. reasons to be cheerful, when were up were up!!! oh now , another song is coming into my head, it's that nursery ryhmme would you believe.

' and when they were up, they were up
and when they were down, they were down
and when they were only half way up,
they were neither up or down!!!

seems befitting for us with OCD.

Wow, that must have been tough, Giles, good on you for doing that!

    No problem!

I used to love that nursery rhyme when I was little, and you're right, it does fit quite well!
