  1. I've just realised that my Grammar is awful... There, I've just used another ellipsis. I've been using them in place of full stops, or periods, as they are called in America. So I'm gonna try and use full stops, and use less ellipsis's in future... I'm sorry but I think I need to sort my Grammar out, if I'm ever to make it as a successful writer! So my posts will have less ellipsis's in future, So my writing is clearer!
Thanks everyone for putting up with my bad grammar for so long. It is just that I've started reading up in good writing skills! Good stuff!

  4. I wouldn't worry too much about grammar on here, content is more important than grammar. BTW the plural of ellipsis is spelt ellipses.

  6. Oh dear, I don't even know what an ellipsis is, sounds like something geometrical. Your grammar has never come across to me wamnnabe as anything less than spot on.

Probably because as youngsters we didn't often come across them and certainly weren't encouraged to use them.
... is an ellipsis and it's now becoming common usage especially when texting or twittering (not the birds )

It means amongst other things an unfinished thought, or at the end of a sentence as a trailing off into silence. You can't though use it solely to indicate a pause in speech.

English isn't a static language it's continually evolving as is the way that we use it. We're not writing essays or professional papers on the forum and therefore there's nothing wrong with using ellipses especially if you've not got much time to spare and want to put your point of view on the forum.

When it comes to correct grammar when my epilepsy is playing up all that goes out of the window, hence recently I haven't posted much as not easy making sense when confused

The problem that I have is a surplus of apostrophes and tend to if I'm not careful accidentally use them liberally through out what I'm writing - I then have to go back and remove them (my right hand little finger keeps hitting that key)

  8. I'm like that with commas! I use too many all the time and make my sentences like paragraphs within themselves!
