  1. I would like to wish OCD Action all the best for the awareness week next year.

I would like to suggest that OCD Action uses Britain's growing network of community radio stations to gain publicity. It is a bit of a hobby of mine to be sure, but community radio stations, of which there are several hundred now operating legally, can give detailed airtime and in depth interviews that BBC or independent commercial stations cannot always offer. In my area, a local community station has already aired several programmes on mental health. I am sure many such operations could give OCD Awareness Week lots of free airtime.

    Best wishes

  2. Where abouts in London is the London conference being held?

  3. The venue has not been finalised yet as several are being considered based on the expected attendance and activities in the programme. Full details will be given in October. If you go to the OCD Week page one the OCD Action website you can sign up to have full details and news sent to you via e-mail. In the meantime we would be pleased to have any suggestions for a venue and comments (if any) why it would be good for the conference together with what you would like to see at the conference.

  5. Anyone can attend and everyone is welcome, sufferers, carers, friends, relatives and people, including the media, who want to find out the truth about OCD. You don't have to be a member of OCD Action but members will get a discount.

As soon as details are finalised they will be given on the website, here on the Online Forum and at OCD Action. You will be able to just turn up on the day but it may not be possible for you to get into the workshops or breakout sessions of your first choice if they are already fully booked, although we will do our best to get you in. Same applies to the Manchester conference.

  8. I think it is great that Hayley is doing radio interviews. It is a medium that can reach many people and is more intimate than television, which is why programmes such as BBC Radio 1's "Sunday Surgery" are so popular. I will be keeping my local community radio station up to date with details of the OCD Action week and hectoring my mate who works there to give it some real "big ups" over the air.

  9. A campaign called Time to Change is running at the moment and it has some similarity with the goals of OCD Week, though Time to Change doesn't focus specifically on OCD. I thought folks here may be interested to find out more if you haven't heard of it already!

    Here is a link:

Hope it's OK to mention it here.

  10. Time to Change is an organisation set up specifically to do something about the stigma that is attached to mental health and their bulletins and other information are copied on to the Forum.

Yes, please do mention Time to Change on the Forum and discuss it's work. Anything that can be done to reduce the stigma and improve awareness and understanding of mental health issues is welcome. This Forum positively encourages constructive discussion of OCD and related matters irrespective of the organisation.

  12. Hi there,

I just wanted to say thanks very much for the interesting and enjoyable conference in Manchester on Saturday. It gave me a chance to refocus again on fighting OCD and I met some lovely people. Bravo to the last inspirational speaker - I think she was called Barbara...? She has inspired me to spread the word.

    Best wishes to everyone,

    Carolyn xx
