Last night saw the launch of the OCD Parents’ Support Project with a seminar by Holly Diamond from the Maudsley Hospital entitled “Supporting your child through CBT”. This was followed by the first OCD Parents’ Support Group which provides an opportunity for parents to come together and talk, offer support and advice to eachother. We had a really good turnout and feedback so far has been great with the general consensus that this was a helpful and interesting session.
The next session will be on Tuesday 20th December at 7pm and will be an open Q&A session to ask the questions you really feel you need answered but have never had the chance to ask. Again it will be followed by the support group and will all be online and free. Attendance is by invitation only so please make sure you are in touch with me (Ilana) in advance to get your name on the list. Email me at ilana@ocdaction.org.uk or call 0207 253 5272.
Now we need to ask you for some advice. Can you tell us, either replying here or by email, what format you want the support group to take. Should it be an opportunity to discuss the topic of the seminar that has just happened? Should each session be based on a topic at all? Should the sessions be a place to share your thoughts and offload, or a place to get advice on finding treatment etc? Let us know what you think and we can try to make it exactly what you need!
With best wishes and hope to see you on the 20th December!
