  1. Ok so Im 16 and a female. I recently posted about being to scared to go to the doctors and asking for help and ideas on how to.... well not be. Well this time I thought I would ask what you think again, but on a different question. So as you probebly guest I relized that I had a few OCD symptoms and checked them out online but I'm to scared to go to the GP about it. Well this time I just thought i would mention a few and see if you guys thought that I should buckle up the courage and go see a GP. So here it goes, these were symptoms listed after I took an online test.
Symptom: Need to align objects just so
    Symptom: Stashing away useless trash
Symptom: Fear of losing something or discarding something
Symptom: Sexual thoughts that one views as inappropriate/unacceptable
Symptom: Repeating routine activities for no logical reason
Symptom: Repeating questions over and over
Symptom: Unfounded fears that one has failed to do some routine task
Symptom: Fear of having caused some fatal tragedy
Symptom: Repeated intruding images of violence
    Symptom: Rituals involving food
Symptom: Belief that certain numbers are lucky or unlucky
Symptom: The need for symmetry and total order in one's environment
Symptom: The need to keep doing something until one gets it just right
Symptom: Inspecting houshold trash in case some valuable item has been thrown out
    Symptom: Accumulating useless objects
Symptom: Repeatedly checking to see if a door is locked or an appliance is turned off
Symptom: Asking over and over for reassurance
Symptom: A feeling of dread if some arbitrary act is not performed
Symptom: The need to touch, tap or rub certain objects repeatedly
    Symptom: Excessive list making
these were taken from Help 4 OCD
What do you think, do you think they are just normal things, or do u think that I should try and get over the fear and go see a doctor?

It definitely sounds like OCD. If you want to get help then you need to see your doctor.

  4. Hi ThisIsMe
This is a pretty massive list, are you sure you do them all? Yes, they are all symptoms of OCD but again people who don't have OCD would probably admit to doing some of them. Helz is right, if you really think you may have OCD then the first step is to go and talk to an understanding GP who should refer you for an assessment and then you will be properly diagnosed. But OCD is not really a cut and dried condition, although there are common threads everyone's experience will be unique and ultimately it depends on how distressing and disabling it is for you to live with. If, for instance the checking takes so long it seriously interferes with the way you want to live your life then that would probably be classed as OCD - or if the fears trouble you a great deal, or the thoughts interfere with your ability to listen and concentrate on what someone else is saying, then you need to get yourself checked out. I hope this helps.
