Hello,

Hi Saschak21,
Welcome to the forum.
Please don't feel scared to write on the forum we all have OCD and wont judge you. How about initially just joining in replying to others first whilst you get to know us. That will build your confidence and also might help with your problem.
You can send me a PM if you prefer not to talk on the forum.
Best wishes
Trudy
hi some stuff is hard to talk openly about at first but great first step coming here. as trudy said you can pm im open for you to pm me also please dont fear judgement we are all in the same boat but with vary shades of the ocd. best of luck annette
No, need to feel scared here, we are very understanding, and I am sure whatever you are experiencing someone here can relate to it in some way, you are in the right place. Please post again soon.
Hi
I totally know what you mean.
I was so scared about telling people.
So much so that even though i started having symptoms aged 11, i only went the doctor about it last year when i was failing my uni course, aged 21.
But i found that my family were so supportive.
But even then i only told them because i had to....
I just couldnt stop washing things, not in a pervy way, but i just couldnt stop.
I washed my hands so much.
Id wash other peoples hands if i could
But if you try to wash strangers hands they tend to give you strange looks/ report u 2 the police
But anyway one day I ended up washing my hands with bleach and got admitted to the burns unit.
N i had 2 wear plastic bags on my hands.
Safe 2 say its not a fashionable look.
But ye, i had 2 stay overnight in hospital n had 2 take time away from my studies.
So by then it was pretty obvious that something was wrong, so i had to tell them.
Anyway long story short, telling my family really helped.
Id also reccommend teling a few close friends. Cos they can give you banter about it.
N i personally enjoy that cos it makes me feel less its an illness, and more like its just a part of me.
Like one of my friends has a small head so il make some reference 2 that,
n she'l respond with some comment related 2 me being OCD.
I find it makes it more approachable and acceptable
But ye, if you wanna chat private msg me.
Joe
Saschak21 hi, as everyone so rightly says, don't be scared. We're all a bit scared of our ocd as it rules us and makes us feel 'odd' vulnerable and misunderstood. Private messages are good as you will get to know us all individually and be able to relate to what our own particular ocd is all about. I had the misfortune of not even realising i had anything wrong with me and thought i was such a crap and deranged person and hated what i did in private for many many years. It was such a relief when i was finally diagnosed and could let it all out and then realise hey it's not you, it's an illness you suffer with - you are not a bad person at all. Taking the first step to open up about what you're experiencing is such a relief and you are in the right place to do that. Good luck and hope you get lots of help from everyone here...........Pops
