Hi All

I am pleased to announce the first meeting proper of the South Hampshire OCD Support Group!

Date: this Saturday 12th November

Time: 3pm to 5pm

Venue: Locomotive Engineers Club
18, Southampton Rd, Eastleigh, Hampshire SO50 9FJ

Directions

The Locomotive Engineers Club is on Southampton Road (some maps may show this as Station Hill) in Eastleigh Town Centre. The Club is at the top of the slight hill, directly opposite the bridge over the railway (Bishopstoke Road).

Eastleigh Rail Station is very close by. Simply cross the road outside the station and turn right up the slight hill.

Eastleigh Bus Station is also a short distance away in a parallel street.

The M27 Motorway is close by - exit via Junction 5 and follow signs into Eastleigh Town Centre along Southampton Road, and just keep straight on until you reach the Club (approx. 1.5 miles). Car parking is available nearby, adjacent to the Lidl store (just past the Locomotive Engineers Club), off the roundabout with Twyford Road ('P7' on the map below).

On entering the club go down the stairs to the meeting room. Ask at the bar if necessary.

There is a charge of Â£10 for the room, so please be prepared to contribute a pound or two (the amount depends on how many people turn up).

This may not be our permanent venue, but I hope it is convenient for you on this occasion.

About the Support Group

This group is open to sufferers, family members and friends, and will be an informal meeting where people affected by OCD can talk to others in a friendly, non-judgemental way.

The group will not offer specific therapy or professional guidance, but will be an opportunity to share ideas and strategies, and to provide mutual support.

At the other Support Group I run in London we usually have a main 'theme' - a subject for discussion relating to OCD. If anyone has any ideas for what theme to have at this, our first meeting, please let me know.

Thank you very much to those who came along to the first meeting of the South Hampshire OCD Support Group, and I hope you found it helpful.

I'm pleased to announce the next one, which, subject to me confirming a suitable venue, will be on Saturday afternoon 7th January 2006.

I have found what looks to be a good, ongoing, venue in Eastleigh, and hope to announce details soon.

All being well, the group will meet on the first Saturday of the month thereafter, probably 2.30pm to 4.30pm in Eastleigh.

I am please to announce the next three dates for the South Hampshire OCD Support Group meetings:

Saturday 14th October 2006

Saturday 4th November 2006

Saturday 2nd December 2006

All the above are at the normal time and venue:

1400-1600 The Cranbury Centre*, Cranbury Road, Eastleigh

(*the newer Scout Hall Cranbury Centre, NOT the older Eastleigh College Cranbury Centre next door)

I would also like to thank very much those who come along to the group - the group is growing well from a slow start, and it is heartening to see people turning up and, hopefully, benefitting from sharing the time together.

Yes I am running the group monthly and have booked the dates, but haven't posted them yet, sorry.

The next meeting will be on 14th July, and thereafter on the FIRST Sat of the month, but I will post all the dates on this thread soon.

I am pleased to list the Support Group dates for the rest of 2007:

All meetings are 2pm until 4pm, and are held at The Cranbury Centre (newer Scout hall, NOT older Eastleigh College Cranbury Centre), Cranbury Road, Eastleigh as normal.

I am also planning to repeat the informal group meetings at a coffee shop to provide an opportunity for those unable to make the Saturday meetings, but people are very welcome to come to both if they can:

Dear All

Special Note for meeting on 1st December 2007

Our 1st December meeting will have an extended break to allow more time for informal chat, and light seasonal refreshments will be available.

It would be good to catch up with the many people who have come along to the group over the past couple of years.

Meetings will continue into 2008, probably on the first Saturday in the month. Please watch this space for future dates in detail.

I am pleased to announce the dates of the South Hampshire (Eastleigh) OCD Support Group meetings for the first half of 2008.

The meetings will now be slightly longer to allow more time for discussion, both formal and informal!

We continue to meet at:

The Cranbury Centre
Cranbury Road
Eastleigh
SO50 5HT

(please note this is the modern Scout Hall, NOT the older Eastleigh College Cranbury Centre next door)

We continue to meet once a month, now always on the 1st Saturday of the month.

The new time is 2.15pm to 4.45pm

Sunday afternoon informal meetings

Sorry about the change of time on 5th July - this is due to a party taking place in the main hall - we will be using the small room at the back of the centre, but only when the previous group has left at 1500.

I've not booked any of the Sunday coffee shop meetings, but we can arrange these on an occasional basis if they would be helpful.

Hope to see you tomorrow and / or at any future meetings.

Hello South Hampshire people

Please do come if you can - the attendance has been low recently, and although I'm fully intending to continue the meetings, it would be even better if there were more people to help each other.

Hello South Hampshire people

Our next meeting is this Sat 6th September 2.15pm to 4.45pm, in the Cranbury Centre, Eastleigh.

Also, on Sunday afternoon 7th September we are having a day out to Portsmouth (Spinnaker Tower) and Southsea for a picnic. Please contact me for more details, or you can find out on Saturday if you come to the meeting.

Dear All

Just to let you know that the next meeting of the South Hampshire OCD Support Group has been moved from Saturday 3rd October to Saturday 10th October (same time, same place - 2.15pm at the Cranbury Centre (modern building), Cranbury Road, Eastleigh). This is due to the OCD-UK Conference in Bournemouth on 3rd October which some of us will be attending

The following meeting will be on Saturday 7th November as planned.

See you at Bournemouth on 3rd October or at Eastleigh on 10th October!

This date is the second Saturday of the month to allow people to attend OCD Action's Conference in London on 6th Feb.
