  1. hi
My names lee 27ys and i have just became a member today. I have suffered with ocd for roughly 15-17 years may be longer. Ocd has controlled my life in many ways during this time. But I'm current recieving treatment at the mauldsley and i have come on in leaps and bounds. I have not even been able to use a computer for many years due to the ocd. So I am currently learning how to use one all over again. I've been reading the post on the forum and i'm impressed with the support you guys give each other. It would be good to listen and share experiences with other sufferers. I'm also looking to join a support group. I'm from south London, so it would be good to see if anybody could help me with this.
    Thanks
    Lee

  2. Welcome to the forum Lee. There are a number of support groups in London and you can find details on the website (go to support groups and click on the London bit of the map) or you can e-mail OCD Action at info@ocdaction.org.uk , also people at the Maudsley may know of a support group near you.

I am pleased that your treatment is going well. I hope you find the forum informative and useful.

    Best wishes,
    Caps

  3. Hi lee!

Welcome to the board! I'm not from London but thought I'd say hi anyway! I have had OCD most of my life and have contamination/hoarding/intrusive thoughts amongst other things. I am seeing a therapist for CBT. Only been diagnosed in last couple of years. Out of interest you said you couldn't use computers for ages, is that a contamination fear? Anyway look forward to seeing to you on the board.

  4. Hi Natasha

Thanks for your reply. Well my ocd has only been dianosed over the last few years. I never understood it until I started to recieve treatment. The reason why it stopped me using computers was the fear that it was going to effect my health, Mainly my eyes. But me even wrting about vthis is evidence that I'm getting becasuse just mentioning this suject was very difficult. So I evoided Talking about it.
    thanks Lee

  6. Hi Lee,

It's nice to see you on here. I'm glad that you're getting the help that you need, that's really great news. I hope that you can continue making such good progress and that you beat your OCD demons!

Everyone on here is so lovely, I guess that's why I keep coming back. Also, it's so much easier to talk to people who understand OCD, don't you think?

    Good luck with everything!

    Hester xx
