New Features Coming Soon

    We are pleased to announce that on Monday 23rd we will be adding some new features for registered users. From Monday, you will be able to add friends onto your profile, and write wall posts (wire) for others to read. There will also be a handy directory of registered users to make it even easier to get in touch with each other. Much like Facebook, these features will help by giving you more control over what you want to say about yourself and will make it possible to build up your own network of people with whom you share a common interest.

    To add a friend, all you need to do is log in, click on a user’s profile, and then click on the “Add Friend” button. They will then be notified by email, and can accept or decline the friendship request.

    Once you are friends with someone, you can then write on their profile “wire”. Only friends can write on each others profile!

    Hello All,

    Just a quick note to say that the new features are now enabled. You can now create friendships with other members and write on your own profile "wire". Please note that only yourself and your friends can write on your profile wire - so please make sure that you trust the person who requests a friendship.

    Smaller tweaks to the site will be added through this afternoon. If you have any questions then please don't hesitate to contact me.

    Finally, you will be pleased to know that avatars can now be cropped without any problems.

    Hi sysop,
    Where has the Icon for a question on the forum gone? It was useful for when people needed help and or support from the forum urgently.
    I'm new to this internet lark and sometimes get confused when you add new things so what is the blue message sign on the left for? Told you I was a dimwit!

    Absolutely no problem - please find my answers below - if you need any more info then please feel free to ask. I'm still doing a few tweaks but we're almost there.

    Where has the Icon for a question on the forum gone?

    Working on this function as I speak - The extra icons should be added back in over the next few hours. I'm going to change it so that when someone posts a support question then they can simply tick a box to set the topic as a support question, and in turn set the icon. So its disabled for now, but will be back soon.

    what is the blue message sign on the left for?

    A few individuals were finding it hard to send private messages to someone else directly from the forum, so I've now made it easier for people by adding a "send message" button. For instance, if you wanted to send a private message to me, then you can do so by simply clicking on "send message" underneath my name, and you will be sent to the private messages page where you type in the subject/message much like a typical email. When I log in and check my profile area for messages I will see a new message appear and can reply.

    I'll keep you updated on further changes, but for now I hope everything looks okay.

    Hello all,

    Just about to send out a mailer to all, but thought I'd also write a quick update regarding some minor changes.

    You will notice when you create a new topic that there is an extra option (a dropdown) for tagging the topic when needing help on a particular issue. If you select "Support Question" then the topic icon will change to denote the support request.

    At this stage, once you set the topic as a support question, you cannot change it again (only admins and moderators can alter this to "Resolved").
