  1. Hey I've had OCD for about 6/7 years now. I find that i keep having 'tics', and once I get rid of one, another one takes it's place. I currently have a vocal tic, which is causing alot of ditress. I was in an GCSE English resit the other day...in a hall filled with silence. And all you could hear was me making some kind of loud gulping/beeping sound. I nearly got kicked out, which would have caused me to be diswualified from all exams && therefore, not follow my dreams of going to cambridge university. I have a doctors appointment on Monday to get some help. But I know this will take a while to work, and they probably wont give me medicine as I am only 16. But the thing is, I have another exam in less than 2 days, and even more people will be in that exam...about 300-400 people O_O HELP!! I need some tips as to how I can help control it. I find that when my mind is extremley concentarted on something, it stops/reduces the amount I make this sound. yet in an exam, just simply concenttrating isn't enough, as I can't bear the silence.

    HELP!!! :( :(

  2. Hi Rawr,

I have tics also, my main one at the moment is excessive eye blinking which causes me a lot of distress. I have had other ones over the years and they seem to have almost gone away.

All I know the more I get anxious about it, the worse it becomes.

It must be hard for you having to do exams. I'm wondering if you may be able to do your exam in another room. If you can explain your situation to your tutor and get a support letter from your G.P. I think it would help.

My son has physical difficulties and has been given extra time to complete his exams, and he does his exams in a different room to the other students

It's good that you have an appointment to see your G.P. as your problem needs to be adressed. Have you got OCD as well as tics?

Let us know how your G.P. appt goes.

  3. Yes I have, I have a massive OCD issue with germs, especially mold/bodily excretion. Last time I had to clean my rabbits out [which I love very much] I would cry and break down because I had to go near their faeces :/ I don't excessively clean my hands or anything, but I hate being near germs :/ Another thing, I have to check things, i.e. plugs, windows, doors, three times :/ It's affecting my life so much, it's really unbelievable :/

  4. I think the tics are caused by you're over anxiety about the exams. My only suggestion would be to make sure you revise loads and this would hopefully reduce your anxiety and fear about your upcoming exams. Also, you could try some relaxation techniques, like breathing techniques for example.
