  1. Hi-I have just come into post as the new OCD Action Advocate and if you have any issues that you need help with, you can contact me on our main OCD Action helpline number(0845 390 6232) and I will do what I can to support you. If you live in Liverpool, Birmingham or Manchester, I will most likely be able to come and see you.

Advocacy is a really miusunderstood word, but its really about helping you to make your voice heard, so you can can have some say in what is happening to you. This could be to do with care or treatment or work or housing issues, the list is really endless- basically any situation were you need extra help/ support an Advocate should be able to assist you. You can read more about Advocacy if you access the tab on the new website. In the meantime, if your issue is one you don't mind discussing on here, the please do so, that might help others and I hope I could offer some pointers that would benefit everyone. Advocates generally are not medically or legally trained and therefore we cannot give direct advice, but we can help you get the specialist advice you might need and also explore your options with you.

I'll post a topic that has come up as an Advocacy issue shortly- until then, I hope that you will read up on the site and see if Advocacy is for you!

In case you have missed it there is a new forum "Advocacy" to discuss all advocacy matters.

This message is from Advocacy1 and was copied to this forum by Caps to let users know about the new advocacy forum and sevice.

  4. The Advocacy Service continues to be very busy and I am pleased to say is being very successful in helping sufferers in many ways including employment and housing issues. I am also pleased to say that we have been able to recruit more advisers to help with the high demand for the service. We will be putting a great deal of effort into expanding the service further.
