  1. I am currently being diagnosed with OCD but i am quite sure i have had this for about 20 years, i suffer from negative thoughts all the time and at times (now) can be really difficult to live with. I just hope now i can get more of an understanding of it and possibly join group therapy.

  2. Hi Daz, being diagnosed is the first step to finding helpful measures in dealing with it. Like you, i suffered for many years not knowing that it had a name, just thinking i was a bit crazy and so hiding it from everyone. Learning to challenge our thoughts is very empowering and this you will find from group therapy. Wishing you luck in your journey Pops

  3. Hello
I too suffer from crippling negative thoughts and have been diagnosed with ocd. Before I was diagnosed had no idea that there was a 'name' for the way I was-I thought it was just 'me'. Even though I do not do the things that you may associate with ocd such as handwashing and other rituals. I know from the therpay that I have had and learning more and more about ocd that I definitely have it - but mine is in the form of holding on to a negative thoughts and being unable to let go of them, the negativity and alarm getting worse and worse - obsessing about them then desperately seeking reassurance. Although the specifics of the ocd I have may not be in the form of handwashing etc, the thought process is the same, and at the basis iof it is that I am terrified of harm and harming others.
I have found that group therapy really helpful - just to know I am not alone more than anything.
Look forward to chatting on the forum

  5. I was the same at first - I could think of nothing worse than sharing my thoughts and I thought they would all judge me, but it wasnt like that at all - being ocd, they all thought the same about each other!!! I hope you find it really helpful - Im sure you will xx

  6. Hi Daz and welcome, you are not alone, I have suffered from OCD for about 27 years. I suffer from mostly excessive worries, fears and doubts, I get a worry on my mind and find it hard to let go off, Subo's post pretty much explains me, as I am a reassurance seeker myself, and I don't suffer from handwashing symptoms either, OCD can vary from person to person causing different symptoms for each of us. I hope that you enjoy this forum, it is a good form of therapy as well.
