Although I posted this on the OCD Week forum a couple of days ago, I am now posting it on this forum where hopefully more members will see it and respond.
This year OCD Week is February 7th to February 13th and as you are all probably aware this year this focus of OCD Week will be on raising awareness of OCD amongst the general public.
Last year during OCD week OCD Action supported 20 local awareness events up and down the country and this year they are hoping to double that. If you think that you can help by arranging a local awareness event, it doesn’t matter how big or small you can contact the office using the following link http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/articles/ocd-week-2011-get-involved/
OCD Action provides help and support to many with OCD and unfortunately it costs money to run especially invaluable projects such as the Help Line. So would you be able to help raise funds by organising a fund raising event? If so go to the above link to contact the office.
However I’m aware that many of us because of our OCD couldn’t manage either of the above and might feel left out. But we can all play our part in this year’s OCD week.
Personally I’m not up to holding an event this year but hope to find someone that will do one with me next year. I'm already planning it. This year I’m not going to be left out and so I’m going to try and help raise awareness by ensuring that as many local surgeries, hospitals (including some of the larger ones) and of course the CMHT have an OCD Action poster displayed. I’m also going to ask some of the local supermarkets etc if they would display a poster for OCD Week.
So what can we as forum members do to help raise awareness for OCD Week?
Some suggestions:
We could all try to make at least two people aware of OCD.
Are you perhaps a member of another forum etc where you could let people know that it was OCD Week?
Does anyone else have ideas as to how we as forum members can help with OCD week either by promoting awareness or raising funds?
You can get more information on OCD week by clicking on the following link http://www.ocdaction.org.uk/articles/ocd-week-7th-february-13th-february-2011
and let's see what we as forum members can do to help.
Thanks
