  1. hi everyone just need a bit of reassurance my 12 year old daughter has just been prescribed sertraline 50mg and i know it seems a bit silly but im really scared about starting her on it incase she changes in some way she is a happy little girl the ocd is a real pain for her but most of the time she gets on with life, i was just wondering if anyone else has had these worries or if there is anyone out there with a child taking medication, any advice would be welcome . thanks jeanette

    I don't have a child taking medication but didn't want your post to go unanswered.
    Many people are scared of starting medication and frequently for the reasons that you mention.
    The medication won't change who she is but will make it much easier for her to deal with her OCD.
    If you're worried it might be an idea to speak to her psychiatrist and voice your concerns.
