  1. my daughter has had ocd since she was about 4 we are on a second lot of councelling she is now 11 nearly 12, and saying its to hard to fix her ocd covers her whole life, at the moment its getting pregnant so she cant touch boys or things relating to boys clothes colours she cant touch younger or children smaller than her she thinks she will become small or take on their characteristics, if she does she has to wash her hands or where ever she's been touched she has rituals she does to herself to keep her safe, sleeps with the light on as she is petrified of the dark.recently she said she could hear voices talking to her at night. so now we leave the dvd player running to distract. this was a scary one for me as my mum is a paranoid schizophrenic.i dont think the councellor is getting how serious this she does no one to one with her to try and understand her, or to help her understand herself. my daughter spends her life being scared, infact she says to me "mum im scared of being scared" despite all this she is a happy little girl and just gets on with it. personally i think some sort of medication might help with the anxiety. so she feels a bit more relaxed about dealing with the ocd, because at the moment i can see things getting worse for her. some of you guys might think thats a bit negative but im being realistic. any replies would be welcome, i think im going crazy at the moment. jeanette xx

  2. Hi Jeanette
So sorry to hear your concerns about your daughter. If she is not getting any one-one help then I think it's time to ask for some more in depth therapy and perhaps get some advice from your GP or mental health team. As for medication again I think you need to take professional advice. My own feeling is that all other options should be investgated before going down the medication route. If your daughter is saying it's too hard to fix then she has obviously learned to recognise and challenge the OCD and this will help her in the future even though it doesn't seem like it at present.
