    Hi Guys

I just walked out of my dance practise this evening, because I'm feeling the pressure of not having a dance partner and feel like everybody's looking at me, commenting and secretly laughing at me. It feels as though some that sit watching are questioning why I'm bothering. I just had to get out of there. I will be going next week, but it was incredibly demoralising and I felt so out of place and stupid.

I hope I get a positive reply from Nigel Wednesday evening, because I cannot bear being without a dance partner and having people laugh at me.

You know these feelings are untrue. All us OCDers feel like this at times. When I was really bad in December I began to think that if anyone took an interest in me there must be something wrong with them as no normal person would like me. It is part of what we are but it is not real.

Hope you get a partner soon.

If I were 35 years younger I would jumping at the chance. When I was 20 I got all my medals in Latin American and was mean at the Rumba - my best dance by far.

    Love
    Anne

Thats my best latin dance too, mainly because it doesn't knacker me out.

Its just upsetting not being able to dance. I'd really like closure, in the sense that I'd like to know the true reason why my previous dance partners parted company with me. If it is the true reason, then thats fine and I'll leave it.

  4. Part of OCD is feeling the need to be 'certain' about the reasons for everything. Learning to live with being 'uncertain' as to the 'why's' in life really helps...because the truth is you may never really be able to find out 'why'...even if you interviewed them, you are likely to wonder if they were telling the truth? Its impossible to ever be certain of anything in life really...for us some things REALLY bug us and we just HAVE to know, yet others we just let go without a thought. Its funny to me how selective OCD is on what things we must have certainty over. lol. The more I am able to let go of needing to be certain...the easier it is to ignore my compulsive need to know.

  5. They've gone Giles and it's their loss not your's

You may never know why they left and as Andrea says even if you interviewed them would you ever be certain of the answer.

You've got loads of friends on the forum, I know we can't dance with you (well we can in spirit ) but we are here to support you. I for one would hate to lose you as a friend it's just a shame we don't live closer

Try to relax more as you're more likely to then find a partner. Good luck.

  6. Hi Giles,

I'm sure your partners are the one's missing out. I wish I could dance. I love watching strictly on tv.

    Andrea
What you said about OCD being selective is so true for me, I've always wondered why some thoughts stick in my mind and cause me much anxiety whereas others don't get a second thought.

I'm sure they're not really laughing at you, and if they are...well, then screw them! You'll have a new partner soon enough, and then you can dance and be better than everyone else and make them jealous.

Lol, I wish I could. The standard is really high in division 1 - Where I'd like to be....and competing of course

If its anything like being out of work. It'll take me 3 months to get a new dance partner
