  1. Hi every one,

As Anne said in a previous topic called 'Missed opportunities...'

Now the forum is buzzing with members, has anyone other than Tuddles and I come up with a name for their alter egos (their strong self and their OCD self).

My strong self is TT (terrific Truddles) and my OCD self is TB (Terrible Bubbles). A member of my MHT suggested that I call my OCD self that because when I wash my hands I create so many soap bubbles in the basin that they get in the way!

    What names would you use?

  3. My OCD is known as Whiskers, it'd take forever to explain why!
It's rather odd in that I've never actually believed anything it says. It's like my OCD is an entirely different person- it's just a question of which of us shouts the other down first. So my strong self is just ME. Not that I always live up to it, but I do my best!

    Hi everyone

It really helps to name the OCD person you know. My therapist loved the name sad glad.

Nowadays I keep saying 'sad glad has left the building' when I get the better of her and she is indeed far less noticeable.

Have a great weekend all of you
    Love

I wish you all a good weekend.

  11. Hi Liza,

    How are you today?

I like the names. I didn't think that it would work, but it does help having a name for my OCD self. It's much easier when you can address it by name.

  19. I've changed my OCD name to TB (Troubled Bubbles) I didn't like Terrible Bubbles, but my strong self is still TT (Terrific Truddles).

  20. Rhymes better, too!

  21. It's easier to shout when I'm exasperated with the OCD, it's not such a mouthful

    Wed Apr 7 2010 20:34:32 #
  22. One of the therapists I saw called me 'Stephen Speilberg' when I was having anxiety as she said my imagination about the things that could happen was so good!!! I thought that was quite funny, although it does mean when I am my ocd self I have had a sex change

  23. Nice one, I too consider my OCD self to be male

  25. My strong name is "The Mighty Drizzles" (superhero style ) and my OCD name would be "Sad Seb".

  26. wow, I've never thought of doing this before. I think of my OCD as a bully, but maybe I should pick something more pathetic sounding so I can laugh at it?

  27. Hi applegreen,

    Welcome to the forum.

I find when the OCD is really playing up I can address my OCD by name and tell it to get lost and that it isn't welcome. Quite often it doesn't work but makes me feel better being able to address it by name. It's better than taking it out on me.

  28. I have decided that my OCD feels like a guy - not sure why. I'm naming him "Golum" because just like Golum it masquerades as your friend and protector, the reality is that it is a manipulative, evil troll. Remembering that he is an enemy may help me to cease the compulsions instead of feed them.

  29. Thank you Truddles for the link

  30. Hmmm I haven't thought about it but is a nice idea, I guess it makes less complicated to manage. When I've started with sympthoms I imagined in my mind 3 personalities Me, a fearful one and a bully one, but since a time my mind was quiet I forgot about it. I'll think in names for them.
