  1. Hi,
Has anyone been admitted to the maudsley or similar hopsital where funding was needing. If so how long was it from the time you got funding to being admitted.
Just I do not want to tell my bosses until I def know I am going to be admitted, as the longer I can leave it the better. Last time I had treatment they tried to sack me. I havn't been off sick with OCD for two years. So even at the moment thye would not have grounds to sack me although they could try

  2. Hi Swan,

Although I can't answer your first question on length of time a referal takes as this can vary so much, it would be worth your while looking at the updated OCD and work/ Employers Guide that will be on the website ( Advocacy section) very soon. These leaflets now include information on your rights as an employee under the new Equaity Act. Your bosses have to treat you in line with the new legislation which means that if you have disclosed your condition to them and you meet the criteria, then they have to make ' reasonable adjustments' for you. This could include extended time off for treatments etc. They would be in breach of the Act if they sacked you on account of your OCD. Please give me a call if it would help and I can take you through your rights under the Act. The Advocacy line number is 0845 3906234.
The site will advise when the new PDFs are available to view- in the meantimes, there is a link on the Advocacy Section to the Equality Act.

    Kind regards
    Jude ( Advocacy Manager)

Dear Teresa, Will it be the Bethlem unit? I had my assessment Sept 2006 and was given an admission date in Feb 2007, but I am sure waiting times vary. My funding was being considered while I was on the waiting list. I was told inpatient is faster than out.

    Love, Tricia.

  4. Hi
jude I will make contact possibly next week when I have week off.
Tricia when I first went to Mausdly I had initial assessment within six weeks and then it was a year before i started treatment, but like you they said thta if I was to have impatient treatment the waiting list wouldn't be as long. I was working on a six month wait from time of referral. My situation is presentedd to panel beginning of January, if they say yes persume it could be end Jan beginning of Febraury before a referral is made.
