Sorry to bring this up but last week I was very distressed by one particular nickname and now I find a disgusting avatar. I don't want to upset anyone on this forum but this is a public site set up for the purpose of helping and supporting people who are suffering from a very disabling illness.

    Hi Joyce

I agree with you. I think this will upset many vulnerable people.

  3. I guess you mean my avatar.

Band photoshoots are meant to look good.
If you knew anything about Leathermouth - you'd understand, they're sick of certain things and I'm sick of being bullied by certain people on here.

Everyone has something important to say - but people have a go at me and make me feel different and I don't need that.

    So that's why.

I had a hard enough time last night - I don't need more of this.

I just found your avatar scary and did not understand the significance. What are the band trying to say? I could not ask you by PM as you cancelled my friendship.

What happened to upset you last night?

We are all finding it really hard to cope at present. I think it is the time of year. I am up and down like a yoyo. I have a lot of sick relatives and am really, really tired.

I am going to spend less time on the forum from now on and concentrate on PMs.
That way I will be able to spend more time on my CBT homework.

I will be on here for another 15 minutes and then will come on once a day for half an hour max.

Hope this isn't a 'disgusting avatar' because that would never do - don't be different right - don't be yourself - just want they want yes!

Maybe I should have cute little puppies - awww
But that's not right - everyone uses you for their own reasons, to think like them, so they can use you for what ever they like.

Glad - You really think I'd mention it on here - to have people laugh at me, because we all know what it's like now.

    Hi dear Nicola

Thanks for replying. I don't think that the avatars necessarily express how we are feeling. If they did mine would be ex-certificate at times.

You can still PM me if you want to. I would never bully you hun.

I want us all to be well and cope better. That is why I joined the site.

    Hello again
I'm afraid I've never heard of Leathermouth and all I can say if a photo of someone lying on the ground with blood all over his head and someone's boot on his head is meant to look good then it is lost on me. Nicola, I'm really sorry if you feel bullied but that is how you feel, not what people feel towards you. I feel old and past it and when you posted and said my Christmas poem was "cool" it made me feel good. But I still don't like images and names which appear to gratify violence and death, however well meaning the intention behind them. Maybe if this forum was solely for young people everyone would be communicating on the same wavelength but it isn't, and we are all sensitive and easily upset. Joyce

  9. Hi,

I have to say that I agree with Joyce and Anne, the site makes it perfectly clear as on the top of the forums page it states -

You are welcome to share your experiences, thoughts and views freely and within the bounds of decency.

So no one is picking on any one they are just asking that the rules of the forum be observed.
I don't want anyone to feel that they are being picked on, but we must respect the feelings of others in the forum at all times.

  10. Leathermouth represents the darker, angry, violent side - but through music, so in a safe way.
Frank (one on the floor) is the singer, also the guitarist in My Chemical Romance and like a lot of bands - are anti-violence and anti-suicide.

So the photo makes sense, but now it's Gerard.

I didn't exactly mean this one when I said I was being bullied though.

Mostly people don't read things properly and they don't respect your view just like in other threads.

Glad - Thanks, but after emailing and talking for a while to someone on here and in the same week having them lie and bully you.
I'm not sure who to trust - like I said in my last message, they only want to use you.

  11. We are all individuals and we all have our individual tastes whether it is in music, food, art or any other means of expression. On the forum we can express our views and feelings in three ways; our avatar, our forum or member nickname and what we say in our posts. Clearly we are not all going to agree with each other in all things nor are we all likely to understand everyones' views and feelings - that is why we have a forum so that we can discuss them. Sometimes some of us will find some means of expression distasteful or offensive, but on the other hand the person making the expression and other readers will not. Some of us will understand what the person is trying to convey and other will not - but we do have a forum so these things can be discussed and questions asked.

The forum rules are quite simple and are there for everyone to see on this website. However, there is nothing specific about avatars or forum nicknames except under the general rule that anything posted should not be illegal or offensive - to use a popular phrase, avatars, forum nicknames and postings should be "legal, decent and honest", and to that I would add "not offensive".

The problem is what may be expressive and quite acceptable to one may be offensive and unacceptable to others. Frankly that comes down to individual taste and is influenced by many factors including our culture age and background.

I would ask that people consider if others would find their expressions offensive before posting them and if in doubt ask a moderator or key master or at least explain in a posting.

With this new forum software we have the option to have user avatars so this problem has not arisen before and there are no specific rules on the matter leaving it to the discretion of the moderators. I would ask that members posting a new avatar or posing consider if it may seem offensive to others and that other members who may find it offensive would consider the views of the member making the post and that both accept that as individuals we have different views and tastes. Clearly there is a limit to how far things can go but as all foum members are intelligent and sensitive people common sense should prevail and if there is any doubt then seek the advice of a moderator or key master. Squabbling on the forum is not the answer.

    This thread is now closed.
