  1. Hi, i am new to the forum, my name is Ian, i have a mother that is a full on horader.
I have resigned (given up hope) myself to it now but she is still buying stuff and bringing stuff into the full to the brim house. Every time i had a clear out it came back twice as bad.
I just wondered if there is anyone on here the same? as i have lots to tell.
    Thanks Ian.

  2. Hi Ian
My mother has exactly the same problem but I am pleased to say, that she has recently been able to get rid of some of the stuff and has not replaced it. I would like to hear more about your Mums hoarding problem, as I have not met anyone whose parent has a similar problem and it would be good to talk to someone who knows what it is like to have hoarding parent.

  3. Hi Julia, nice to here from you,
I think her hoarding escalated when we had a break in about 15 years ago, i am still very bitter about it. She hoards everthing, three rooms in the house i have thought about boarding up.
The whole house is damp, as there is little circulation.
Her last escapade was the freezer the lid had broken off and was using alot of eletric, so i got a new one, now we have two as the old one cant be thrown out, as a farmer lad she knows wants the other one to keep his feed in, so we squeeze through the kitchen sideways.
We get jam jars delivered all the time as she is a very good cook and used to make alot of preserves, there is jam jars everwhere.
The ocd side of it is veried diswasher being one of the main ones, plus head scratching to the point of being raw. I could write a book.
The worst thing is she is a very nice person.
My dad is very ill which is a another story.
I have not been able to find very much info in this country, lots in the states. Are you in the uk?

  4. Hi Ian
I read your post with great interest and can empathise with you, as I have found myself is a similar situation with my own mother. My mothers hoarding started after a relative became ill with dementia.
Because I cant get onto the forum on a regular basis, to read the posts, would you be able to pm me, so as to ensure that I dont miss your posts?
    Many thanks
    Julia
ps. yes I am in the UK
