Does anyone have either hoarding OCD or tendencies to hoard?
If so how have you gone about tackling the hoarding issue?
Where and how do you begin?

I don't know if my reply is likely to help as I don't have hording OCD however, I do always seem to have a lot of clutter.
Whenever I have a clear out I tend to ask myself two questions:
1) Have I used/worn this within the last 6 months?
2) Am I likely to use/wear this within the next 6 months? If the answer is no to both (and it usually is) then the item has to go.
Hi Trudy, yes i tend to do the hoarding thing too. I can't ever have one of something, i have to have at least half a dozen. I've got plastic containers full of things ive bought to have just in case, i.e. birthday present stuff, showers gels, wrapping paper, birthday cards - 4 biscuit tins worth!! I'm trying to stop the bulk buying and use what i've got but i get panicky using up the stock, yet my house is small and i need the room!! All this said, i won't be buying more shower gels until i've used up what i've got, i've made that promise to myself and i also need to look into freeing up the space under the bed!!!!!
Phew....... so it's not just me that buys plenty for fear of running out. Must admit I've just discovered got a glut of shower gel. I'm always frightened that I'll run out of essentials, that or the supermarket wont have any in stock, like last week. If I try to use what I've got I too panic with the 'what if I run out and can't get any more?' syndrome
Aren't plastic containers a marvellous invention for us hoarders
