  1. Hi,

My ocd ruining my life, very frustrated and confused. I got horrible thoughts about harming loved ones that just will not go away. I am anxious 24/7, know the thoughts are stupid but they wont bloody go away.

I have meds to take but not really any help from therapists.

i am going to try and get better but need some advice / support

  2. Hi Stu,

You have taken the first step by asking for help so you are well on your way to feeling better about things.

Speak to your doctor and explain that you need councelling in conjuction with the meds. CBT is the main form councelling takes, but I am no expert so it may be a good idea for your doc to send you for a wee session with someone who can determine exactly what style of therapist will help you the most.

Please believe me when I tell you that all of us OCD peeps have intrusive thoughts that are repellent to us, but remember that we are not our thoughts. They are just thoughts and that is all. Even peeps without extreme OCD have the same thoughts, it is just that they don't attach the same meaning to them.

This is a hugely common condition now, and you are not alone with it.

All the very best of luck to you for this recovery process. This is a good place to share your thoughts along the way.
