ive had a telephone assessment today and due to my answer on the questionaire i rank as moderate and will be referred to counselling rather than cbt. just have to wait for the lady to call back to say its been accepted then the wait for a session so heres hoping

Nettlenoo,

I'm not sure exactly where counselling stops and cbt starts. with my therapist we were doing both and the cbt was fairly loose formed- we didn't slavishly follow a structured approach.

I worry when people here say they have been given a course of cbt that lasts for a given number of sessions. I didn't find it worked that way. We never set a number of sessions as a limit.

Counselling could well be the right solution for you!

i have been referred to the physcology dept, i chose to rather than another therapy group...didnt know they did telephone interviews! i hate talkin on the phone to strangers
i thought i would just get a paper questionnaire? i hope so

hello david thanks for reply im happy with the out come for me its what i want i dont think for me my ocd is as much a problem as depression so treatment is different. hello ocd the telephone support is something in southamtpon im not sure its been done anywhere else but i had it last year and for me it wasnt a great turnout but the people there are great and as of the begining of this month they no deal with the referrals for cbt and counselling too. i hope you manage to get the help suitable for you. take care
