Anyone got any experience with fluvoxamine?
About to change from sertraline to fluvoxamine.
Thanks

Hi lard -
I don't have experience with either of the two (am on paroxetine myself). So I did a bit of research. I could not find any significant differences as to the effects of the two (both work against depression, OCD, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and panic disorder, as well as phobias (in a number of cases).
My instinct tells me that the difference may lie in individual ranges of application (a working range of 20-60 mg per day doesn't have as much possibilities for fine-tuning for a patient as does a range of 20-200 mg, I hope that is evident), and perhaps also in their half-lives (which indicates the rate of breakdown in the body; a long half-life has less risk of interrupting activity in case of not taking the stuff than does a very short half life).
I say: let people chime in who actually take the above meds, I am sure we have members who do.
Cheers, Cuthbert.
Hi,
When I was first diagnosed I was on Fluextine 80mg it worked well for a couple of years and then I changed meds. I know other people on Fluextine and it has worked well for them.
Take care
Hi Martyn, There just has to be someone on it out here somewhere! But just go with it I guess

I was on it for years at a very low dose (50mg), apparently because my psychiatrists didn't know what they were doing (although I was only 9 when I started out on that dose). I eventually increased to 150mg while at the same time seeing a new therapist, and my anxiety did decrease but I don't know if it was the medication, the therapy, or both. Drowsiness and decreased libido were the side effects for me.
Hi Mike, that's a very young age to be on medication... Mind you, it proves that the people around you took you seriously, and that can only be a good thing...
