First CBT appointment

  1. Hi, I've got my first CBT appointment next week (Pure O) nervous,worried I'm going to either become really emotional as I finally talk about it or become embarassed and dowmplay my OCD, dont know what to expect - has anyone got any pointers please? Thanks

  2. I'll be interested to see if the therapist focuses on the "C" (cognitive therapy) or the "B" (behavioral therapy). For me, cognitive therapy did absolutely nothing, whereas the behavioral therapy (known as exposure and response prevention) saved my life.

    One piece of advice is do not feel embarassed, or at least make yourself not care if you're embarassed - tell the therapist your fears in every detail so that the therapy can be targeted to these fears, and then it will be most effective.
