  1. Hi all,

I've created and written a Facebook page called "Exeter OCD Support Group".
It's available for the public to view, i.e. you don't have to be a Facebook member.
Here's a weblink to my "info":
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Exeter-OCD-Support-Group/104152486361290?sk=info

So far, topics I've "posted" comments about include the following:
FACTS ABOUT MEDICATION & BEING REFERRED OUT-OF-COUNTY
    POST-MEDICATION SIDE-EFFECTS
    CBT and REBT
"DON'T STOP ME NOW" - INSPIRATION FOR OTHERS
    POST-SSRI SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION (PSSD)
    SEXUAL OR VIOLENT OCD
    SEXUAL OCD
BEING MORE RATIONAL - THE BOY WHOSE SKIN FELL OFF
    PURELY OBSESSIONAL OCD
    CATS
    YOGA THERAPY FOR INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS
    DO YOU "SELF-MEDICATE" WITH ALCOHOL?
    OCD BOOK RECOMMENDATION
    OCD FILM RECOMMENDATION
I AM WRITING A NOVEL ABOUT SOMEONE WITH OCD - TELEPHONE RESEARCH

Please can you tell anyone you know who is affected by OCD about my Facebook page.
Please explain that it's open to the public, i.e. you don't have to be a member of Facebook to visit it.

So far I've got 10 "likes" from Facebook members (well, one is from me!).
I've sent them all the following message:

    Hi my "OCD friends",

Thanks for "liking" my Exeter OCD Support Group Facebook page!

You're brave to speak out about it.
As you know, the more people who do so, the more we can raise awareness, combat embarrassment, and stop people living years of misery and possibly committing suicide!

    Thanks and best wishes,
    Gemma

... there might be a story in this. On obsessive-compulsive disorder. Not as big a blip on the radar as cancer, maybe, but sufferers will tell you it's still some mighty scary shit.

  4. Hi Playthoseblues,

I've just re-read your response on the forum 6 months ago to me trying to set up the Exeter support group - I notice you're 16 and live in Devon.

The group meets in a hotel's lounge bar, but I'd like to point out that people under 18 are welcome - we meet during the morning and have coffee/tea/etc, i.e. no alcohol is consumed.

Do contact me initially if you wish to attend - just phone 01392 477899 (with answerphone) or email gemma.gladstone@googlemail.com.

    Best wishes,
    Gemma
