  1. Hi everyone. In my last post i said that i got a new job. I was on probation which was supposed to last 3 months but 1 month in and they told me i wasn't right for the job and that retail isn't for me. It's really getting me down and i'm worried that my ocd and depression are coming back but worse. I really don't know what to do and i feel ashamed telling people about whats happened.

    Dear Amy,

I am sorry that the job did not work out for you. Please do not feel ashamed about talking to people about it. Retail is not for everyone - that is a fact and not a sign of failure. I have done several jobs which were not right for me - in fact I spent my whole life doing just that!

Why don't you go and see your doctor and get some help (or meds) so as to get your control back and stop yourself from having a relapse. Most of us leave it too long before we seek help. If we see the triggers and nip our OCD thoughts in the bud at an early stage we can get our control back a lot more quickly.

In the meantime, please feel free to PM me if you would like a one to one.

    Love
    Anne

  3. Hi Amy,
Sorry things are not so good at the moment. I think Anne's advice was spot on so I won't add to it. But please don't feel ashamed, you made a brave decision before, and it didn't work completely to plan but you showed a lot of strength in making the choices you made and things can get better again. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Please PM if you want to chat.

  4. I am sorry that your job didn't work out, just think it might be them and not necessarily you. I have had jobs in the past where I just did not fit in at all and after this I have got on ok.

I guess that you are feeling really down at the moment but its important to remain positive.

I know that it is really difficult to talk to people but I found it really helpful talking to my GP and he was fantastic in helping me, you might want to try this too.

  5. Hi Amy,

Sorry things didn't work out with your job. Don't blame yourself about this, I'm sure you'll find something else soon enough.

Yes it does knock your confidence and can make everything else seem worse but try to think positive and don't let this setback get the better of you.

I've got a terrible track record for things going wrong but I try to remain positive and that helps me get back on track.

    Good luck

  6. p.s. Let us know how you are getting on. Also don't feel ashamed to tell anyone, I think you'll find that this has happened to many of us.
