hi,its one week on from when i joined the forum and although i still feel pretty bad i have made an improvement with my self help book.
i have been to my doctor and he has given citalopram tablets 10mg has anyone else had these and what side effects did you have as i am concerned about side effects.i am hoping to start cbt soon as i am lucky my work provide private counsellors and we have a 24hr counselling telephone line as well.
any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi Jimmy, I've been on citalopram in the past and I always make the mistake of reading about all the possible side effects. The most likely side effect you will get is feeling tired and a dry mouth. Try not to read everything as it tends to always make us feel worse. It's great your work provides counselling and I hope you will benefit from it. Take care

Hi Jimmy

You should be fine on 10mg. I only had side efects because I went straight on to 20mg per day. Once I cut down to 10mg I was fine.

They take a few weeks to click in so don't worry if they do not help immediately.

Please keep coming back to the forum and keep on seeing your consellor at work if you need to.

Hi Jimmy, I take 60mg daily. The only side effect I really had when I started was feeling sick. Each time the dose was increased this would happen and then settle down again.

hi jimmy i had palpatations in the first few weeks but nothing else and i started straight on 20mg per day. i wish you luck as glad said these take a wee while to work but i feel they are worth it .
