  2. Christmas can be a terrible time for those who are alone. Can I suggest that as many of us who can login to the forum as often as we can over Christmas so that at least there are some forum friends to chat/pm with.

Ah, I love Christmas! That probs doesn't help though... I guess if I were alone on Christmas I wouldn't like it, but I have my little angel puppy and this year is the little un's first Christmas so I'm looking forward to seeing their happy and excited puppy faces.

I don't think dogs really have any concept of Xmas, but I'm sure they can sense people's excitement.

Na, they do. All puppies and dogs know Christmas. My eldest gets so excited this time of year because she knows what's going on. The new one's in for a big surprise though!! I can't wait to see what she's like when we get a tree! I gave them their special doggie advent calenders today and they both very much liked that!

Like I said, they can sense your excitement, that's why they get excited. Like kids. Unless they're super!dogs, I doubt they know what Christmas actually is.

If you mean in the way of religion and stuff, NOBODY knows that anymore. Christmas isn't about Jesus anymore, it's about presents and the media and getting money out of people and eating loads of junk food.
As I see it though, Christmas is about being with the people you love and the people I love are my puppies. Oh, that and cool films and Christmas specials and a whole load of SPARKLY THINGS!!!!

Some people do still celebrate it as Christian festival, it has religious meaning for many people, I think. Not for me, but for people I know.

Well the media is secular, and this is a secular state, so that's why. But there is Christian media too.

With all due respect, I hate Christian media. I hate the way some people get so obsessed with God that they have to rave on about their opinions on it and shove it down your throught, ect, ect. I think God is something you can believe in or not believe in but you should never be picked on because of your own religious beliefs. I don't know if I believe in God or not... When I first started doubting there being a God I started to get OCD thoughts about it and my OCD told me it was bad, but now I realise that lots of people don't believe in God. Then I felt more ablee to talk about it and now I think that there is possibly a God but not a male one as otherwise the universe wouldn't have lasted five minutes nevermind all these millions of years.

  14. Hi Blueboy !
Why not consider doing some voluntary work for a charity, during the festive season. It will help with the feelings of loneliness that you are experiencing, by enabling you to meet people and make new friends.

  15. At OCD Action we are very aware of the difficulties that Christmas can bring, especially the lonliness. We will do what we can to help at this time and we are currently making arrangements to have some service and facilities available over the Christmas and new year period. However, we have very limited resources and welcome any offers of help. We are hoping to run the helpline for some time during the "shut down" period and perhaps a similar facility where people can simply talk to someone - but no promises, at this stage this is just what we are trying to do. There is one thing that forum members can do and that is to go online frequently over that period. The forum and PM facility will be running.

  17. Hi Blueboy,

Maybe you could contact OCD Action and see if you can be available just to chat to someone who wants a chat with someone who understands over the "festive" season.

  19. Hi Blueboy,

You might not have the confidence to do as number 6 suggested but you could do your bit by going on the forum over the festive period. I'm sure that it would be appreciated as there are so many that will be alone at Christmas.
