It has recently come to my attention that someone has commented to someone else (though not on this forum I hasten to add) that I shouldn’t be going for CBT for my OCD with my Neurology team as the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT) at the Maudsley hospital is the best in the country.
Granted the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma is reputed to be the best in the country and I would never dispute that. But I was discharged from them with out a full course of CBT - the reason being because of the seizures and other factors such as the hypos and the unresolved bereavements.
But it has meant that I’m still unable to cope with the admission that both the Neurology team and myself want for telemetry. We need this to assess as to how to proceed with my treatment. As CADAT are adamant that they won’t do anything more despite my complying with all the homework and actually making progress the Neurology team have stepped in and are going to provide CBT with their CBT therapist who incidentally is at the Maudsley. They propose to treat both the OCD and the seizures as both are inextricably linked. The reason being that treatment for the OCD can’t be further delayed as I need the admission so they can adjust my treatment as my seizure control is so poor and causing so many difficulties. I fell down the stairs during a partial seizure in March this year and have torn my rotator cuff and now also have an impingement. What happens if the next time I end up in plaster or worse, I’m struggling with my OCD as it is but with a plaster on . . . . .HELP
