  1. Hi everybody,

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

But if you are feeling alone, or afraid, or are finding it hard cope, please come onto the forum and share your thoughts with us.

Perhaps we could all spare a thought for those that might need support during what can be an extremely stressful time of year even for those that don't have OCD. Perhaps we could all spare five minutes a day to look at the forum to see if anyone needs our help or support. It could be your Christmas gift to other members on the forum

I will be on the forum on and off all of the Christmas period.

    Thinking of you all.

    Best wishes

    Trudy

  2. Hi Trudy, good idea, I too will be on the forums on and off through Christmas, probably needing support, knowing me... There is such a massive amount that people expect of something that is basically two days out of the year, when memories of years gone by come to the fore... We also try to cook too much, please each other too much, and try to get on with people we don't always get on with in family... It is supposed to be a time of celebration, but it gets tinged with misery too... Here's wishing everyone a peaceful and restful Christmas... And a happy new year... Let's hope for that too...

  3. Hi Trudy and Wannabefree

I won't be able to go on the wesite over Christmas which will be extremly hard, but my husband and family don't know about my OCD. I have tried to tell my husband but I didn't get a very good response, which is why your kindness and support mean so much to me.

I will try and grab a chance when he's sleeping off the festivities.
It will be a challenge to say the least as it's stressful time anyway.

I will probably be in need of some friendly voices when it's over!!

  6. Hi Chloe - Im really sorry to hear about your OCD and that your family dont know about it. I honestly cant imagine how you possibly keep it so secret. What I will say is try not to keep it secret from everyone because you simply cant fight this alone. We are always here on this website and there are some really good books/audio books out there too if you feel you need extra help (im really sorry if im telling you stuff you already know but i just wanted to send a little message before i head to bed).

As the others said take it easy over the xmas period and I know I will be popping by the forum a few times to see how everyone is doing.

    Take care and stay strong

  7. We're having a quiet Christmas so I anticipate being on the forum at least once every day.

  8. We in Holland have two Christmas holidays (as do the Germans). IIRC in the Anglo-Saxon world, there is Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

One of the two I will be spending with my parents and my sister. We'll have a quiet evening, and enjoy dinner together. I am very happy about that.

I don't see that many aspects of my OCD interfering with this. For me, catastrophic thinking is about the most severe symptom of my OCD, these days - which is not to say that other symptoms won't address themselves again in their former, um, 'glory'... we can't be certain about these matters.

And I will try to pay visits to this great site frequently. It is all so stimulating, seeing others make progress, and greet new members on what seems a daily basis. Keep the threads rolling, please!

  9. Cuthbert, I hope you will have a very special time with your parents and sister and the OCD will remain quietly uninvited.

  12. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas everybody. You deserve it more than most. I'm having a quiet and relaxed Christmas so will be on these forums whenever I can.

Regardless of what you're all doing, I hope the holidays give you some relaxation and respite from this horrible condition.

Happy Christmas and good luck in your fight(s) against OCD.

  13. No snow here in Cornwall, just lots and lots and lots of MUD, MUD and even more MUD. Yesterday we had hailstones the size of marbles.

  20. Hi Blueboy... The song says, 'Have yourself a merry little Christmas... Watch a bit of telly... At the very least you aren't living with someone you just don't get on with... It is a lonely time of year for many, so come on here during the day for company... It is good not to expect too much of the Christmas season, it is just another day at the end of it all... Have a drink with me on the day... I will have a couple of somethings, I don't know what yet, but I intend to be a bit merry if I can... Hopefully your intended will be able to get over here during 2012... I've got some asks for 2012 too...
That people will need to wait less time for CBT Therapy... That they'll come up with a new medication that sorts out OCD, with little or no side effects...
And a peaceful world, though that last thing maybe asking a bit too much...

We had fun at the forum Christmas party last year didn't we?
BTW have you put your sprouts on to cook yet Nimrod?

    Mon Dec 19 2011 17:02:19 #
  22. I don't think we need reminding about the effects of Nimrod's sprouts, Nimrod Castle is still being battered by hurricane force gales.

  26. This was posted on the My Hill thread

In preparation for the Christmas party that I will be holding soon (invitations are going out very soon) I have got in a firm of specialist cleaners and contractors ready to prepare My Hill for the best Christmas party ever. They were quite shocked to find that there were a couple of intruders on the hill so without any fuss or ceremony they bundled them both off My Hill and well out of the way so that preparations for the party could continue.

So,once again it is beyond question My Hill. Watch out on the forum for your invitation to the best Christmas party ever at Nimrod Castle on My Hill.

Lord Nimrod, Lord of Nimrod Hill

So it looks as if there is going to be another forum party this year - great a chance to let my hair down and act my shoe size rather than my age

  30. Hi playthoseblues i am with you on feelings about christmas. When my children were little it was so different but then i didnt have ocd, now my children are grown up and the ocd is worse than ever just getting through the day is hard enough. Will watch a bit of telly though.

I have two extended families really my adopted one and my birth one and i still find it easier to stay at home with my immediate family all of whom know and support my ocd so it makes me feel safer somehow staying at home.

    Take care
